Crêperie du Roy — Restaurant in Dinan

Great little family creperie in the Historic District of the wonderful town of Dinan. This is not the biggest or fanciest crepery in Dinan, which is a town literally FULL of creperies. But that is the beauty of it - it is a sweet little family owned shop where you can duck in from the ancient cobble stone streets and sit down, relax, have a great crepe meal (the local "meal-type" crepes are actually called Gallets) and enjoy some friendly conversation with the family that owns and operates it. They were very patient with my halting high school french, and gave us some great information about not only the meal, but the town itself. They introduced us to the local "apple brandy" liquor, called Calvados, which is quite strong so be careful if you try it! If you want flashy and expensive, go down the street; if you want to feel like you are part of a family dinner where you can relax and enjoy a great meal, then don't miss this little gem!!!! Stopped in for dinner on our first night in Dinan, and were so glad we did! We had our first galette and crepe of our trip there and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, and it is run by a wonderful couple who took over the business 4 months go and it's clear they love what they do. We had the opportunity to meet their sweet daughter as well, and saw them again two days later in town, and it was like greeting old friends. They were so friendly and welcoming (and patient with our French!). Dessert was amazing and we had the crepe with chocolate, and the one with warm apples and caramel - la nourriture...

Patrons très orgueilleux, et très mal aimables avec la clientèle, si vous osez lui faire un reproche. Mr n' accepte pas que l' on puisse lui faire gentiment une remarque sur un plat qui ne nous a pas convenu. Mr ne peut pas se tromper, il est prof. ( Je n'ai rien contre les profs, je vous rassure, c' est ça façon de vous sortir ça, comme si c'était une évidence qu'il était infaillible !) Dommage car les galettes sont très bonnes malgré qu'elles soient peu garnies et noyées dans le beurre. Mme écoute les conversations des clients, (une conversation qui était une plaisanterie entre nous et qu'elle n'a bien-sûr pas comprise ) et nous la reproche au moment de régler. A oui, n'oubliez pas de faire votre prière avant votre repas,(lol) car Mme vénère son Dieu, je ne vois pas le rapport ??? Encore une fois chacun fait ce qu'il veut et ça n'a rien à faire dans une discussion entre patron et client, tout ça parce qu'on ose leur faire une réflexion. En restauration comme dans tous les métiers ça arrive tout les jours, personne n'est infaillible ! Ce n'est pas une raison pour être hautain et désagréable avec la clientèle. C'est la première fois que je poste un avis, et pourtant ça m'est arrivé de pas tomber sur le top, mais là ils ont été bcp trop loin pour...
