We had a wonderful stay at the Grimaldi Hotel! The room is right next to the old castle and has a unique flair. The view of the castle courtyard in the middle of the mountain is breathtaking. Thanks to the air conditioning, it was pleasantly cool even in summer. In the evening, you can enjoy the equally good food in the Grimaldi restaurant while listening to live music. Tip: Try the tiramisu, it's heavenly! You can tell that the young team puts a lot of effort into creating a lovely restaurant experience. A free bus provides an easy transfer directly to the castle, so you don't have to make the ascent on foot. It is still worth walking down as the historic town is beautiful. Thank you Yoan for the lovely stay, we would come...

An unforgettable dining experience – truly exceptional!

We had the chef’s menu and every course was absolutely fantastic – a perfect balance of flavors, creativity, and presentation. The highlight for me was the dessert: a Pavlova with crisp meringue, lemon sorbet, strawberry compote, and whipped cream. It was pure magic – light, fresh, and full of vibrant flavor.

The wine pairings were exquisite and complemented the dishes perfectly. You can feel the passion and care behind every plate.

A must-visit for anyone who appreciates top-quality food and a truly...

Set in a very pleasant French village atop a hill in Cagnes Sur mer: we drove up and parked in the automated car park: it takes your car and stores it in Subterranean levels, very Thunderbirds.

There is a large square with a few restaurants (after all it is France) and great views.

The museum entrance fee is very reasonable, but they don't accept cards.

We passed through various rooms and levels but the highlights are: the painted ceiling and the view from the very...

We visited the Grimaldi Castle after a morning at Saint Paul de Vence. As others have mentioned, the 360° view of the coastline and mountains are worth admission (€7/adult). The Phaeton ceiling is beautiful and the facilities are well-maintained. The exhibits have a bit of something for everyone, such as: medieval buildings, Renaissance paintings, the Grimaldi family tree, olive oil production in Nice, etc. AC is available so it's comfortable walking through the buildings.

The Grimaldi Castle Museum was built around the 1300 by Rainer Grimaldi, lord of Cagnes, the castle at that time was first of all a fort protecting the town. In 1620 Jean-Henri Grimaldi transformed the castle into a more comfortable and decorated wealthy palace. In 1937 it was acquired by the township and became a museum in 1946. The castle is the home of the 40 paintings collection of Suzy Solidor portraits and is also hosting temporary modern art exhibitions.

At the time of posting, almost all the contents of the castle had either been removed for woodwork treatment, or had been concealed and wrapped up for woodwork treatment. Worth the couple of Euros for the view, but other than that, I really wouldn’t bother. 2 stars given because of great view and free shuttle bus service (along terrifyingly steep paths). If we hadn’t taken so long to try and find out where in the bus went from another star would be given.
