Truly terrible food.

With a rating of 4.6 we assumed it being off the main square of Antibes, we would be sacrificing the atmosphere of the tourist places for a quality culinary experience.

I can only assume, with many positive ratings, that at some point it must have changed hands or changed chefs.

The quality of the food is so bad, I cannot even believe it is produced by a trained chef.

We had gazpacho which was like blended cucumber with water and a few floating frozen prawns, literally the worst I’ve experienced anywhere ever. And another starter was tomato, basil etc, which was a huge lump of cheese, a tiny pool of blended tomato and one basil leaf, truly shocking. To add to the insult, the bread they served was stale and the complementary olives look months old….

The main was even worse, a risotto which was just the rice and some tinned beetroot cubes, no trained chef with a shred of professional pride could produce something so depressing and tasteless. Then the black cod, be clear, this had that oddly strong “fishy” taste you get with defrosted fish, and it was tough, I know cod has a certain texture, but this was just plain tough…. And the side veg…. Seriously, a tiny serve of steamed veg, literally one mini carrot, absolutely swimming in cheap olive oil that left an oily feeling in your mouth, and even worse a mine side salad intended to Accompany the fish was overwhelmingly raw onion which overpowered and left a nasty after taste.

To the restaurant, I am not criticising the service staff, who were lovely, but if you’re serious about food, you need a chef. This is a total rip off, I would have been better off with a baguette at a bakery for 10€ but spent a fortune here and only have an awful...

Below is review from 2019.

We returned the other day, for lunch. And we were not disappointed. Nice seating in the now car-less street, super-friendly welcome, precise explanations of menu items, good advice on wine. Oh, and the food was top! to start fish rillettes with pickles and foie gras mici-cuit for mains pavé de turbot with sauce chauron (hollandaise with tomato - exquisite!) and paleron de boeuf confit (10hours-slow-cooked piece of chuck, delicious) with variations on carrot. for dessert profiteroles with chocolate sauce -- great choux/feuilleté pastry, quality ice cream and chantilly.

Already reserved next meal there.

Cannot recommend highly enough!

6 STARS!! We returned here after a great experience last year — we were not disappointed and came back for a second meal a week later! Arnaud et Roxane are great hosts, welcoming and accommodating. We brought our dog along and they found the best table for us and treated him like royalty. The lunch and dinner menus are fantastic value and there are daily specials. The wine list is nice and reasonable, also wines by the glass and 50cl bottles. Our highlight dish was a whole fish stuffed with local vegetables and served with a fish soup — à la bouillabaisse. The mille-feuille is a fantastic dessert, usually with a seasonal fruit. Will definitely return — suggest you try it...

A Hidden Gem in Antibes

We came to Le P’tit Cageot on a Tuesday evening, introduced by a local friend — and honestly, we’d have never found this spot on our own. It’s tucked away, unassuming, and exactly the kind of place you hope to stumble upon in France.

As our entree, the charred leeks were creative and mouthwatering. The daily special was Coq au Vin, which everyone at the table ordered except for two. It was my first time trying the classic dish, and it didn’t disappoint — fall-off-the-bone tender, rich, and full of flavor. One of those meals that quietly lingers in your memory. The house-made ravioli were gorgeous little pillows, perfectly cooked, while the risotto was creamy, flavorful, and satisfying.

What stood out just as much as the food was the staff — incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They navigated dietary restrictions with ease and care, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Le P’tit Cageot is one of those places that reminds you why you travel — simple, authentic food made with love, shared in good company. Highly recommend seeking it out if...
