Prao Restaurant — Restaurant in La Rochelle

Prao was recommended to us by a local who called it his favourite for him and his wife. We’re glad we went as our lunch was fantastic. The restaurant was quiet when we went and quickly filled up on a Monday. We both had the 3 course menu (passed on cheese course as too much food). My husband also had a glass of organic red with his lamb. Both wine and food were delicious, fresh, seasonal. We were also pleasantly surprised and welcomed the variety and abundance of vegetables! Service was solid. Light on wait staff but food came out in a timely manner even during lunch rush. Limited menu but outstanding imaginative dishes. Friendly efficient service. Fine dining at a reasonable price. Out of the way of the immediate port side area and favourite with the locals. Excellent restaurant in La Rochelle. Beautifully decorated, with upstairs and downstairs seating that has plenty of space between tables for privacy and conversation. The food is equally fantastic, with the Sunday brunch being the highlight. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, toast and roasted potatoes with fruit juice and unlimited coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
