LE PORTOFINO — Restaurant in Le Mans

Made a reservation because I was staying near by. But reservation was not available when I reached! However got a table! order taking - super Slow Had to ask for bread! Restaurant has an Italian name, and had to ask for bread on the table? Shangria - stale, no fruity flavor, tasted like cheap bottled shangria from supermarket served half glass by volume. Pizza - motivated by the Italian name, asked for vegetarian pizza. Well, bad choice! Charred crest topped by load of cheese! At best, it was bad. By far the worst pizza I ever tasted! No flavor, no taste. Even the cheese was tasteless My partner had veg burger - at best, very ordinary burger. Served with stale paprika slice (one slice!) Recommend- hell NO Return - Hell NO. I would rather eat McDonald’s To top it off, the staff claimed the pizza is not Italian but Portuguese! But the person who had the burger is Portuguese and that argument died as soon as...

We had been recommended this restaurant by a customer of ours. Aperos nice and we placed out order. Unfortunately, when my wife’s order arrived it was not the correct dish. We made a waiter aware and he was in the process of getting the correct details when the guy who took the order came up behind us and rudely said that he was correct and my wife was not. He made her feel so uncomfortable that she said to forget it. She could not eat the chicken that arrived so it was an expensive plate of chips!! As restaurateurs ourselves we always give extra leeway in restaurants but the service fell short today. It’s a shame as it spoilt our evening and the first day of our holiday after a very busy restaurant season!! I would be very disappointed if my staff ever did anything like this. For anybody traveling near here, I can only recommend that you stop & enjoy the fabulous service we had here. Just behind it there are 2 rows of Tesla Super Chargers…….which to be fair is the reason we stopped in the first place. We took the time to eat here & it was simply great. The Cote de Boeuf for 2 people was simply excellent. We had our 2 dogs with us, and while the terrace was closed, the staff made a space for us inside away from the other guests. The best was to come……..as we used the Tesla Super Charger, and could show that the car was indeed being charged, we received a 10% discount. We have been traveling back to Ireland from Strasbourg for 23 years. This Le Portofino @ Le Mans will be our stop in future. Treat yourself, it really is...
