Le Club Marot, located in the heart of Lille, is a truly exceptional dining experience that I can't recommend highly enough. From the moment we stepped through the door, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu and the extensive wine list with genuine enthusiasm. Their recommendations were spot-on, and it's clear they take great pride in what they do. The restaurant's location is perfect, nestled in a charming corner of the city, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere that's ideal for a special occasion or a relaxed evening out. The interior is elegant and tastefully decorated, striking the perfect balance between modern chic and classic French bistro. But let's talk about the food and, in particular, the wine list. It's nothing short of a masterpiece. The selection is vast and diverse, featuring an impressive array of regional and international wines to suit every palate and price point. It’s clear that a lot of thought and expertise went into curating this list, and it elevates the entire meal from great to unforgettable. While every course was a delight, the absolute highlight of the evening was the dessert. The special mention must go to the Manjari chocolate creation. It was a work of art, both visually and gastronomically. The rich, intense flavor of the Manjari chocolate was perfectly balanced, a decadent yet refined end to a magnificent meal. Le Club Marot is more than just a restaurant; it's a celebration of fine food, exquisite wine, and unparalleled service. A truly unmissable...
Read moreI liked it so much here that I went twice in three days! Bistronomy dishes, I should say creations, at his best at a fair price, very good service, not too loud music, cosy atmosphere and decoration. I took the three-course menu at 39€: I had the macquerel with roquette cream and artichokes, then the duck breast with beetroot and young carrots and a reduced jus and finally, rhubarb and strawberry with sorbets and a creamy white chocolate. That dish is one one of the best desserts I've ever had. I had it again the second time I went. No need to say I'll definitely go back!
UPDATE: third visit this Saturday April 26 2025. It was as perfect as last time and maybe even better! We took three courses from the "Menu Savoureux": green asparagus followed by sweetbreads with mushrooms, particularly delicious dish, and finally a desert made of Granny Smith apple, lime and caramel. The restaurant was full inside except for one table, they can only accommodate 20 people I would say though, so it's best to book in advance. I was so pleased to see that the place is still thriving and that the quality hasn't dropped a bit, on the contrary. See you again...
Read moreAverage welcome at the door. The houmous avocat wasn’t a good mix to my taste ; the tastes didn’t blend well together at least in my opinion, but if you mix it with the rest of the dish ( chevre and others ), it was good ( a bit biased because I love chevre cheese and the taste was always dominant and creamy in every bite ). The main course , quasi de veau was mediocre : The quasi de veau was hard and the sauce was a typical one but nothing special like you would expect. There are much better places to try for this price 50€ per person for an entrée plat dessert and a glass of wine. The problem with the whole experience was that you couldn’t feel any effort to impress or leave an impact ( food , service or even the mood ), simply didn’t...
