Buvette Saint Antoine has a spectacular view of the Notre-Dame of Lyon, but unfortunately, the stunning scenery is the only positive thing I can say about this place. The food was downright terrible. We ordered a simple platter, but even that was a disappointment. The ham tasted strange, almost like it had been sitting out for too long, and the bread was far from fresh—hard and stale. The cheese was also subpar, lacking in flavor and freshness. It was clear that the ingredients were not of good quality.
To make matters worse, the beer we ordered was extremely light and flat, almost as if it had been watered down. For a place with such a prime location, I expected much better. Instead, it felt like they were relying solely on their view to attract customers, without putting any effort into the food or drinks.
The service was also indifferent, with staff showing little interest in whether we were enjoying our meal or not. Overall, Buvette Saint Antoine was a huge letdown. I’d recommend skipping this spot and finding somewhere else to eat—there are far better places in Lyon that won’t ruin your meal, no matter how nice the...
Read moreI visited this restaurant with a friend as I recently moved to Lyon. I ordered Caesar salad along with a glass of coke. Barely ten minutes after starting to eat what I ordered, I found a huge disgusting looking dead fly in my salad all mixed up with the salad dressing. I showed the waitress the salad who just said sorry and took away my order. Mind you, it was a € 12 salad. A normal thing that restaurants across the world practice is to either replace the food with a fresh dish or pay you back the cost. It is after all a health hazard under the rules of the European Food Safety Authority. These people were just very rude to my friend and I and just said “shit happens” and since the salad was “half-eaten” (which it wasn’t, I barely started it) they refused to compensate for what happens to be entirely their fault. I strongly advise against visiting this place and my case would be reported to the European Food Safety Authority. I am a French resident but for tourists, it really isn’t the place you should spend your money on, they don’t care and you would return back with a bad...
Read moreVisited the buvette for a very light lunch. We got there before midday so were not surprised to hear that service had not started. We ordered some wine and were happy to sit until the start of service. The views were wonderful and the breeze off the Saone was a great relief from the heat of the day. 10 minutes later the waiter came back and said the kitchen were happy to start service a little early and took our order. We asked for a single salad between us. Very happy to meet our reqeust. The salmon salad came very quickly with a carafe of nicely chilled water. The cold rose wine was great too. So we had good service, good food and the prices were very reasonable given the quality of the setting and the freshness of the breeze (obviously that can't be...
