Don’t come here if you’re uncomfortable sitting close to strangers with whom you share plates of fantastic traditional appetizers and dessert like extended family you haven’t met in years. Do come here if you like to eat food the locals love, like the tender braised ox tongue with a fabulous shallots/capers sauce I had or the andouille sausage with creamy mustard sauce my husband had. Don’t come if you have dietary restrictions you get what you get the Lyonnaise way and in big portions! For a $22.5 euro lunch you scoop whatever you want from 5 cold yummy charcuterie items in big bowls, a hot main of your choice, soft cheese of your choice, and scoop your own dessert from shared plates. I took half my main home and we won’t be having dinner tonight. Service was friendly and fast too. Make a reservation and go!

Incredible dining experience, I honestly cannot recommend this place highly enough! A must visit while in Lyon. The food was phenomenal but the atmosphere and the experience of the place made this one of the culinary highlights of our trip. The wait staff, Hugo and Pierre, seamlessly plied guests with traditional plates, flitting in and out of conversations in a way that made you feel like a guest in a home rather than a foreigner in a restaurant. We stayed well into the evening and would definitely return any time

I had an terrible experience with this restaurant recently. The personnel at the establishment were uncooperative and exhibited extremely rude behavior. Upon our arrival, before my husband was even able to say we had a reservation, the man working in the front shook his head and said "No." My husband politely proceeded to tell him we had a reservation and the staff member raised his voice to us saying "No" while yelling other words in french. Even after presenting a screenshot of our online reservation, the staff persisted in not honoring it, stating that the reservation was not in their system, even though I made the reservation two days prior and he had the photo proof right in front of him.

While I acknowledge the possibility of a system error, the refusal to accommodate us in light of the evidence presented, coupled with the perceived abundance of available seating, raises concerns. The experience felt personally directed, and I cannot discount the possibility of bias, given the assertion that the reservation was not recognized despite concrete proof.

Either way, none of this excuses the mans appalling behavior. The overall experience was both disappointing and unacceptable. You would think a highly rated establishment, such as this place, would maintain a level of professionalism and hospitality expected in the service industry. Tourist be warned.

If you are considering eating here, I highly recommend you try Chez Grand-Mere instead. It's also a highly rated classic Lyonnaise restaurant with great atmosphere...

Not our style of food, traditional but... We didnt find quenelle (too mushy) and the pork chop (which is heavily fried outside and dry inside). The shared starters are no special (just similar quality to premade salad that you can buy from super marche) and the desert... Like in another comment says, the creme caramel is short of... avarage too, ive had much better in spain and australia and in french restaurant elsewheres (ie. in vietnam!) ... Maybe authentic but just not that amazing and maybe its our first meal in Lyon so our expectation was high ... Service was ok, we have to wait quite a while until everything is served despite we booked for the first seating (like 7.30pm when they litterally just open) , there was only 1 waitress and a girl at the bar aerving drinks for a room of appr. 40 people so imagine you have to wait until your turn to be served! We did not enjoy it as we expect but glad we try, price was ok and they were a bit direct asking how much for tip? We did tip but we wouldnt typically since we didnt enjoy the food and service is mediocre. Sorry,...

We were surprised that 2 girls were asked to sit on the table right beside us. My husband assumed that the place had plenty reservations- we ended the meal and the place was still empty - Why then were we squeezed in together. It was awkward at first but we were glad that the ladies beside us were nice. I guess the feeling should be like a family sitting together and sharing a meal. If the place was packed, I would understand but we only had 3 tables with people . It was weird and awkward. It would have been a better feeling if the food was great to compensate but…

The appetizers were interesting and some were actually good like the beet roots and potatoes. But the mains were very disappointing. I had the tongue - it was soft but the sauce was underwhelming. We also had the Pan fried Beef Tripe with breadcrumbs - also underwhelming. For dessert Steve’s apples in red wine. I opted out for dessert. For drinks, we were served currant wine for starters - that was good - and after, we had...
