Avoid, avoid!

There were a few red glad when I ordered a salad and a main course. The salad was ok, nothing special but I was brought my main course I simply couldn't eat it. It was a sausage floating in cheese. I'm far from being a picky eater but I simply could not eat the dish. It just tasted not good. But i said that I would happily eat the side dish.

To my surprise the main course I didn't eat was still included in the bill, I asked to remove it but I said that I would happily pay for the side dish. When I tapped my card I realised that I was charged 9 euros out of 17 for the side dish.

I spoke to the staff saying that it's not ok to charge more than half of the dish considering I didn't like that. I was given the attitude and excuses that they couldn't do anything in the system.

Wow! First of all, all the customers were French (or French speaking). You know what that implies. The server was excellent. They suggested a Beaujolais wine which was out of this world. We started with the Salade Lyonniase and Tarte fine à l'échalotes (Shallot tart). Both were delicious. Main dish was famous Lyon dish, Quennelle de Brochet (kind of a souffle with pike fish with an incredible sauce). Incredible. My wife had the pulled lamb shoulder (Épaule d'agneau confite). I tasted it, it was also melting in your mouth. Both dishes has a side to choose. My wife chose gratine dauphinois (sliced potatoes cooked in cream) with her lamb which was perfect. I chose ravioli which was even better than perfect. We took the Pavlova with pear and apple. I will return and strongly recommend to family and friends....

I was determined to experience an authentic bouchon restaurant during a brief stop in Lyon, but based on some online research was a little concerned about taking our 18 month year old son, who can be quite a handful in the evening. Although we narrowly missed out on the only high chair, a table outside on the street was perfectly suited to our needs and provided a lovely setting for a memorable evening.
