Le Bouchon des Carnivores — Restaurant in Lyon

I want to go again. I enjoyed this restaurant. Service was very pleasant. The decor/ambiance was interesting and aesthetic. It is an excellent choice if one is in that part of town. It was open late afternoon between lunch and dinner when other restaurants or bar kitchens in the area were closed. There was nothing that I or my three companions did not enjoy. I had a steak that was a bit tough and that was a bit more rare than the "en point" I had requested, but it was delicious. The steak came with three sauces on the side (Roquefort, poivre, Béarnaise); I would not get them again. The steak by itself was better than with the sauces, none of which impressed me. On the plate with the steak I had potatoes au gratin, which was very good and a sautéed vegetable that was tender and delicious, but more umami than I expected. I hope to return and try this restaurant again, and might improve my rating. The day before I had had a steak in a village in the Brionnais region that was at least as good. I give four stars for now because this was Lyon, and the standard should be harsh. But I want to go back and give it another try; ultimately that is...

We visited Lyon for a business trip with a coworker and were recommended this street for some excellent dinners.

This restaurant caught our attention as we are both friends of a good steak, so we figured we would give it a try. The restaurant is owned by a family which owns two restaurants across from eachother on this same street.

We chose the menu "Menu Lecuyer" for 30.5€ / person, and were not dissapointed.

I chose for my set: Starter: "Os à moelle aus gros sel" - Bone marrow with rock salt Main: "Pavé de beouf au poivre" - Magnificent steak with some pepper sauce Dessert: Crème Brûlée

For the wine we chose a 50ish euro bottle of Saint Joseph Le Granbe Pompée from 2021.

The starter was very tasty and the bread on the side was to die for. Perfect mix with the wine.

For the main course I took a pepper steak, since sauces are something the French usually do well, and was indeed not dissapointed. The steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce was a brilliant match for the meat.

For the dessert I took a traditional Crème Brûlée, which was also perfectly caramelized and overall tasted perfect.

I would wholeheartedly recommend...

A fuir ! Désagréable, arrogant, pas professionnelle, manque de respect... Nous avons emmené des amis qui venaient visités Lyon et nous leur avons fait vivre une expérience inoubliable mais dans le Sens inverse souhaité. Nous sommes parti du restaurant étant installé à table mais avant de passer commande... je gênais apparemment le serveur car il voulait passer poser une chaise juste à côté de moi si mon ami ne me dis pas de me pousser le serveur ne m'adresse même pas la parole et quand je vois qu'il est derrière moi je lui demande pardon il ne me dit rien élève les yeux au ciel en soufflant.... il nous installe en faisant signe pas un mot... juste en nous faisant un signe pour aller sur la table nous donne les cartes et s'envas. Puis une serveuse arrive qui n'était pas en salle avant et nous dis " bon vous avez choisi" pas de bonjour pas un mot " sympas... je lui ai demandé 2 minutes pour choisir car nous devions traduire les plats à nos amis elle est donc bien revenue 2 minutes après et nous lui avons dit que nous n'avions pas eu le temps de choisir encore si elle pouvait nous laisser un peu de temps elle nous a clairement fait comprendre qu'il fallait passer commande des boissons nous l'avons dit que nous n'avez pas encore eu le temps de choisir et c'est donc là que ta mère très au temps elle nous a levé les deux pouces en nous disant bon bah du coup si vous avez choisi ni l'un ni l'autre je reviendrai dans une heure pour prendre votre commande... je tiens à préciser que oui effectivement nous étions à peu près installé depuis 5 minutes à table puisque nous sommes allés aux toilettes nous laver les mains avant de nous installer confortablement et que dans le restaurant il y avait huit personnes toutes les tables étaient toutes vides il me semble que quand un restaurant est vide on a le temps de bichonner ses clients et non pas de les traités d'une telle sorte nous nous sommes levés et nous sommes partis sans rien dire ils n'ont pas demandé pourquoi on partait qu'est-ce qui est arrivé ils ont simplement dit merci au revoir nous sommes allés au bistrot d'en face c'était blindé de monde ils étaient sympas la carte était beaucoup plus petite et les plats délicieux nous avons eu honte avec mon ami de faire découvrir la gastronomie lyonnaise dans un restaurant où l'on traite comme ça les clients en ne comprenant pas ce que les serveurs disaient nos amis ont compris qu'ils étaient en train de nous manquer de respect et de...
