Le François Villon — Restaurant in Lyon

I STRONGLY recommend not going to this restaurant.

We chose the restaurant because it had good critics and a good looking menu on their site. We wanted to celebrate our college graduation with our families that came specially from abroad for the ceremony and it was a HUGE mistake to have gone there. We reserved a group table for 30 people. Once inside of the restaurant the waiters asked us to split in groups, they had set up more than five different tables for us! and split us up depending on what we had ordered in advance, so thank you (NOT) we had sto sit separately from our parents or friends because of that. But this was not the end, after a while, the manager clearly asked us to hurry up and leave before another group was supposed to come... when our dinner had not even been served! On some of the tables they even served the meal as a group meal (a huge bowl from which to share), no restaurant-like plates, nor anything, so much for being in France for a classy meal. When we wanted to pay he asked all of us to pay 20€ for the meals, even those who had ordered menus that were cheaper, saying that it was easier to count that way for a group!! And he even got angry when we tried to say we didn't find this normal and started to shout at us. And to top it all, we found a piece of shattered glass on one of the deserts, for which he didn't even try to...

From the outside the place looked super cute and we saw a pretty large drinks sign so we wanted to get drinks. As we sat down and put our drink order in, the owner/waiter asked us for our food order. We didn’t really want food just drinks. As soon as we said no to food, he immediately printed out our receipt to pay and gave us such a rude look and was just so stand-offish. I asked if we can wait to pay after we finish our drinks and he immediately said no you have to pay now. We were so confused and really upset. He soon approached us all irritated that we only ordered drinks. We were not aware we were not allowed to order only drinks. If we were told in the beginning we would’ve left but instead he was extremely rude and rushed us to finish our drinks and kept looking at us rudely. We were really upset and decided to chug our drinks and leave asap. The waiter could’ve approached the situation better but decided to behave rudely. Moreover, this place was not super busy and closing within the hour and it’s not like we didn’t...

DON’T EAT HERE. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Tried to charge me 5€ for going to the toilet.

After this I went through the Google reviews and found that not only have they done similar things to others but even worse as well. Some people were charged 20€ for going to the toilet, others had food poisoning and someone found a broken glass in their dessert.

While I sat outside with my son, my wife and my daughter went inside to wash their hands. It was really hot so we changed our mind and went to eat inside. While getting the table inside we got some bad vibes from the manager. He was giving us bad looks so we decided to leave, then he blocked the way out and asked us to pay five euros for going to the toilet. We refused but he got really aggressive, started insulting us and as we left he put his middle finger up. I’ve never been treated like this and having my kids of 11 and 13 years old witness this kind of behaviour from someone that is managing a restaurant wasn’t something I expected to experience in...
