Le Mondrian — Restaurant in Lyon

Really cute place, I’ve been in the neighborhood for 10 years and have never been so was happy to finally check it out. We were going just for drinks (the regional reds are really well priced at 5-7€ a glass) as I’ve always associated Le Mondrian with a bar vibe but we stayed for dinner and it was really good 👍 The menu is reduced so you have less choice but the chef is talented so you’re happy with less choice. The menu price (21€) seriously can’t be beat, so qualité/prix is awesome, especially in the neighborhood which is super trendy. I ordered the soupe and the vegetarian plate (fried polenta) and my partner had some kind of beef dish that he really enjoyed. The WORST experience in the city.

The price to quality ratio is terrible, from the few drink choices to the limited food options unfortunately nothing was up to par with the price. The staff also doesn't know much about the composition and it seems severely understaffed and overcrowded. The staff doesn't know which dishes can be made vegan and at that time they couldn't make anything work except a few sides (which were Tasteless, Soggy, Drenched in Oil or just Stale Bread toasted with herbs). My drink was Undrinkable and they categorically refused to make any form of refund or to exchange it, in the end I had to leave without it being solved. FUYEZ ! Small white bearded waiter was rude, half the menu unavailable on valentine's day... Dried up salad with the starter, cold main meal and when told they heat it up in the microwave and served our own plates back. Seriously disgusting, and I'm French so I know how it's supposed to be. We thought it could not get worse so decided to get desert, waited 20 minutes with empty plates on the table before we decided to just leave. They didn't seem to care. I do not recommend.
