I don't usually write bad reviews in a restaurant, but the service here is a really big question for me and my friends.
We were 3 to the restaurant for dinner. It will be better if you have reserved before coming. The atmosphere is nice, an izakaya concept in Japan - which means where you can be with your friends or colleagues to drink and eat after work or like a weekend night out.
Food is acceptable in our taste. We had chicken curry, which is quite dry inside, tonkatsu with the pork is not very well seasoned. The only one that is not that bad is the Ramen. In my opinion, I think that is the only dish which has flavor.
The only thing that we don't really appreciate here is the way the waitress served us. She seems unhappy with her job or so. We barely, even never, saw she smiles or at least feels comfortable with her job while communicating with customers. Maybe because she doesn't speak French very well, so it's the only reason that can be understandable. But the way she came to us every time without a formal word, it's kinda weird for me, who knows pretty well Japanese culture... She asked us to leave after 1h15 cause she has other customers come and she needs a table. We're ok with that cause I understand some restaurants have 2 services in 1 night. But at least you can tell us before we came, or give us a smile or an excuse, she just came directly to our table without "Excuse me" or "Sorry", and "Can you leave, we have another customers" with a grumpy face then "I will give you the bill" then leave...
Honestly, if the experience with the waitress was not that bad, we agreed that we could come back sometimes for the atmosphere, not the food, apparently. But after this, regretly, it won't be on our list for coming back again...
Read moreLast Saturday, I went to Oto Oto with my friends, and honestly, it was probably the best Japanese food Iâve had in Lyon. Iâm always on the hunt for good Asian food here, and itâs been a bit of a struggle, so I was super excited when a colleague recommended this spotâshe said it was the best udon sheâs ever had, and I totally agree.
We started with a Japanese koshu to drink, then ordered a bit of everything: chicken karaage, okonomiyaki, sushi, plus my friends got a bento box and ramen, while I went for the udon. The food came out fast, super fresh, and full of flavor. The chicken karaage was honestly the best chicken Iâve ever tastedâso crispy and juicy. All the main dishes were perfectly seasoned, with generous portions and tons of fresh ingredients.
For dessert, you have to try the yuzu cheesecake with sesame ice cream. We shared it and the ice cream was amazing, so rich and unique!
The vibe at Oto Oto is cozy and cute, with warm lighting that makes you feel right at home. Shoutout to the staff, tooâthe girl who served us was really friendly and super on top of everything. Highly recommend Oto Oto if youâre craving authentic Japanese food and...

Mochi sĂ©same â 9 ⏠: Enveloppe Ă©paisse, pĂąte de haricot rouge triste .
