Simply amazing. Pictures can’t do this place justice. The food flavor and the texture was perfect. I had the pre fix menus for “la mere” which included an app, entre and a dessert for 43 euro. For my app, I got the gravlax…. It was so incredibly smoked that the texture was the perfect balance of firm and soft. The Smokey flavor of the fish was incredibly done and elegant. Goosebumps multiple times over, for my main course I went with supreme chicken that had a creamy sauce with morels , a pretty rare type of mushrooms that I love. It was absolutely the best chicken dish I ever had. The chicken was moist with amazing flavor, but also the crispy in the right spots. My girlfriend had the Quenelle with the crayfish sauce and a lyonnaise salad that were both incredibly done as well. What an amazing experience! The chef and the staff were incredibly nice and accommodating to English speakers. Just go it is an incredible and unique experience and if you are Lyon it is worth it to go to a real bouchon lyonnaise and this one was super great! We got reservation on the fork app on the same day, as always try to get a reservation first as that’s customary in...
Read moreBest veal chops of my life. We went on a Friday night an came in when the place just opened up. It filled very quickly, so resevations are highly recommended. There seemed to be many locals and regulars. Lost of atmosphere, especially in the original space with the bar, the other room seemed to added later. The patron speaks decent english, we followed his recommendations and were very happy. I got a pate as a starter which was a bit on the dry side but tasted quite good, my wife had foie gras, which was better, both were good sized portions. Then came the recommended veal chops, and they were heavenly. Panfried to perfection, pink, medium, soft on the inside, dark brown and crispy on the outside. I was held back by my wife to grab the bone with my hands to get last bit of crust off it. They had wonderful buttery mashed potatoes as side dish with a nice mushroom sauce. We tried the red and the white house wines and the were really good too. For desert we shared a creme brule de lavande and a marc the bourgogne, where the greatness of the marc helped us over the lack of lavande, the crems was great without it anyway. Highly...
Read moreThe food was certainly alright and in line with our expectations but the waitress yet very nice was overwhelmed with the many tables she had to take care of which led to a few mistakes such as opening a whole bottle while we had ordered a half one. The owner said it was fine and he would only charge half of it but when he took care of the bil he said we had taken much more and he could not sell it anymore which was not the case (and as if he could anyway sell a half emptied bottle..). The feeling we got charged for something we did not order nor want in the 1st place left a very unpleasant aftertaste. We would certainly not recommend this place and the few other bouchons we tried afterwards were...
