Smokey — Restaurant in Lyon

Went for lunch on a Saturday after hearing about this place. In Canada we have lots of smoked meat options but not so much in France so we were excited to try! Honest review here, the food is insanely delicious, really. The little appetizer buffet is so good with the best hummus I've had in France! The orders came quickly, we ordered brisket w fries and short rib w potatoes. The fries + potatoes had a little spice on them, so yummy! The meat was literally fall off the bone and the brisket juicy and fresh, huge portions which was great to enjoy the next day. Only thing I would say is that the service once our meal was done is very slow making it so we didn't bother getting coffee and dessert which is too bad cause I really wanted to try their desserts. That's an easy fix and really would not stop me from coming back. The food speaks for itself, I would definitely recommend this for a meat eater!! I look forward to coming back and testing the other items...

Edit review: We couldn’t get a spot the last 3 times we called a few hours earlier to book and they were rude about it saying we can’t book on the phone we need to go to their website which blocks €20 on the carte bleu in case of no show, which is annoying as well. Today we wanted to bring a guest there and booked in advance and when we arrived they said they stopped serving burgers in the evenings and the only things available on the menu starts from €+30. I think this was the last time I attempt to go to Smokey. Becoming famous = bad customer service.

I had the guacamole burger and my husband had the brisket burger and they were both delicious and very filling! If you’re a meat lover, this place is an absolute must! The short ribs were melt-in-your-mouth delicious—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every dish we tried was a hit, especially the perfectly grilled meats that were cooked just the way we like them.

The ambiance was cozy yet modern, and the whole dining experience felt smooth and relaxed. But what really made our night stand out was the outstanding service. A special thanks to Gio—he was incredibly professional, friendly, and attentive. He made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down and gave great recommendations.
