We recently stopped by Fioupelan in Marseille for breakfast and had a pleasant experience overall. We chose the €6.90 breakfast menu, which offered good value for what was included. The menu came with a cappuccino, orange juice, a pain au chocolat, and a croissant.
The croissants and pain au chocolat were fresh and delicious, with just the right amount of flakiness and buttery taste. They definitely hit the spot for a classic French breakfast! The orange juice was also a highlight – fresh, tangy, and refreshing, which balanced out the sweetness of the pastries nicely.
However, the cappuccino was a bit off. It wasn’t as smooth or creamy as we were expecting, and the flavor was slightly unusual compared to a typical cappuccino. It didn’t quite match the quality of the other items, but it wasn’t enough to detract from the overall experience.
The atmosphere of Fioupelan was welcoming and relaxed, making it a nice spot to start the day. With its good prices and tasty pastries, we’d still recommend it for a casual breakfast, but we’d suggest trying a different coffee option next time. A solid spot in Marseille that’s worth...
Read moreUnfortunately, we did not have a positive experience at this restaurant despite the good reviews. Entres: I have to mention that the entres were very good. Water: It was nice that water was included. However, the waiter brought us glasses for water but did not bring the water until we asked for it, much later. Main: For main we ordered muscles. We waited for 55 minutes and had to ask if everything was ok. We had the impression that they forgot about our order. When they brought the muscles, they missed bringing the extra plates to discard the shells. The muscles, unfortunately, were overcooked. Also, the dish was very basic: water, onion, and celery. In addition, they were not fresh as there were quite a few dead and unopen ones. Disapointing. The staff were nice the few times they were around. The ambiance was nice - also facing the old cathedral...
Read morewell proportioned food. fish was served with little “chips” that not sure if were tapioca, potato, or garlic? but those were good. fish was well cooked too.
the 300gm steak didn’t really look like 300g, and what was supposed to be a medium came out well done. the steak tasted blend with no pepper no salt. so where did all the salt go to? into the potato side. this is the saving grace for this restaurant. creamy in between each of the potato slices. maybe i was eating it wrong. should have eaten a potato slice with each cut of beef.
the most horrid of all was the milkshake. it was the most blend tasting drink ever. it felt like they literally took the most unsweetened bananas and strawberries to blend with water and serve. extremely...
