Le Loup Bar — Restaurant in Marseille

We were offered a reservation at this restaurant on a night when they had a fixed menu of sushi. We really wanted to eat in this fabulous location so we took the reservation. The food was good but it was a very expensive menu with no choices and mostly sushi and sashimi. The service was a little scattered and there were some mix ups despite the restaurant not being full because of the unusual fixed menu. We were underwhelmed by the food and service but the atmosphere of this outdoor bar-restaurant, is just lovely. It was a beautiful night and the bar looks out on the lovely port of Cassis. We feel happy we were able to eat there but they should work on the quality of their servers and it is never a good thing to offer a fixed menu so expensive...

It’s undeniably a beautiful place—no question about that. Unfortunately, the staff is disorganized. There are too many people working, and you never really know who’s serving you. Three or four different staff members might ask what you’d like to drink, and yet it still takes 30 minutes to receive your order. The real disappointment came with the matcha. If you’re going to put it on your menu, please make sure you know how to prepare it properly. It’s not just some powder you stir into 500 ml of oat milk and call it a day—for €20 a glass. A superb dining experience!! The charcoaled octopus was amazing, and the yellow tail carpaccio melted like butter & packed a punch! Simple, yet expertly prepared with high quality fresh local produce & so much juicy flavor. The star of the show was the amuse bouche tuna-crab which literally blew my mind. Flavours on a whole new level that just kept giving. Honestly adding to my list of most memorable dishes. The pastry chef at LRB is a star!
