For young people this 3 star hotel (which felt to us like a 2 star hotel) might be o.k., but for people over 60 I cannot recommend it at all.||First of all: for 38 rooms there are only 10 parking spaces for cars. So because all 38 rooms were booked out, we had to park at a public parking which was expensive.||Second: this hotel has no elevator and nobody from the staff was willing to carry our three heavy suitcases up to the third floor. We were exhausted when we finally reached our over-heated room after having schlepped all suitcases, a heavy backpack and my heavy purse with camera and book upstairs to the third floor.||Third: even though I searched in hotel.com particularly for a room with air condition in Cassis knowing very well from previous trips that the Côte d'azur can have heatwaves as early as end of April, it didn't tell us that air condition is not turned on before the END of May!!!|Unbelievable!|While we were there (5/4 to 5/7/24) we had a heat wave, however, our room still had the heat turned on which took hours to get cold. |The receptionist told us in all seriousness that they don't turn on the a. c. before end of May. WHAT???|So I simply waited until the night manager started his shift and asked him to please turn on the a. c. for us. At 6 p.m. we finally got a. c. and were able to stop sweating like crazy.||Fourth: this place is on top of all hill, so if you want to leave your car parked (provided you finally found a parking space) and just walk down to the harbor to have lunch or dinner, you'll have a steep uphill walk back to the hotel.||Fifth: we had a suite and due to my husband's snoring I wanted to sleep in the other room, BUT it had no blanket and no pillow. |The receptionist told me that all 38 rooms were booked out and there would not be an extra blanket or an extra pillow (pathetic!). |I threatened her with a bad review and all off a sudden she found me a blanket and a...
Read moreOur time at this hotel was mixed. First the good points. The pool is lovely, access to Cassis is excellent, and our suite was spacious. However, when we arrived on 21 April check-in was moved to three, not two, as stated on our reservation. Furthermore, the bath/shower was potentially dangerous, as there are no hand grasps, and is awkward to use. The in-house computer still uses Windows 7, and the printer was broken. Our biggest complaint came on leaving when the desk refused to take cash. I asked them to reverse the credit card charge, but they said this was impossible. We have never found this a problem in our extensive travels around Europe. We also discovered the hotel charged us the full cost of our stay two days before we arrived. In subsequent correspondence with the hotel and Best Western, we were told there were problems with pre-authorisation, and the hotel continued to insist charge reversals could not be done with American Express. We checked with our card provider who told us none of this was true. As a result of the hotel's intransigence, we have lost eighty-two pounds through currency exchange costs and charge card fees. The hotel manager, M Caudet, has never responded directly to...
Read moreCan’t say enough good things about this hotel!
Above all, it’s the absolute perfect location for Cassis - in 15 years of trips to the town, this is the best location by far. It’s the best of all worlds - walkable, yet accessible by car; 5 min walk to the port in one direction and 5 min walk to Plage Bestouan / cafes near it / start of Calanques hike. It has the benefits of a major hotel chain while also feeling small and local.
The main lobby view is heart-stopping; they open the entire wall to the fresh air and incredible view. The pool is one of the best hotel pools ever - ESPECIALLY for being 5 minutes from the center of a town in Europe - this amount of space is unheard of.
The staff were incredible - helpful and so friendly. Professional but not pretentious.
The breakfast was lovely.
I stayed in the most basic room and it was perfectly adequate- good layout, nice air conditioning, good WiFi.
I hope to have the chance to stay here many more...
