Absolutely LOVE the lunch experience there. It was my first stop after arriving at Marseille. It was a great first impression of Marseille after I picked up my CityPass, which is only 2 blocks away. The staff is SUPER friendly even during busy peak lunch time. Food was delicious! You can tell the staff put love and care into making those sandwiches. I had aioli sandwich, the flavor is rich and fresh, SO yummy! I had garlic breath for the rest of the day after eating the sandwich but it was worth it! That shows how fresh and rich the ingredients are. It was one of the food highlight experience for my trip to be honest. Just thinking about how lovely the staff are put a smile on my face. I am already fantasizing about going back! Next time I will try Bouillabaisse. This place is definitely a #MustEat quick lunch spot when you are visiting Marseille. A personal note to the staff: Keep up the fantastic work! Lots of love and good vibes sending your way from...

I tried the lobster roll here, which came with panisse, and honestly, it didn’t live up to the price tag of 19.90€. The portion was on the smaller side, but that wasn’t my main concern. The bigger issue was the taste, the roll was disappointingly average and rather bland. Since lobster has a naturally subtle flavor, it really needs the right seasoning or a sauce to bring it to life. Unfortunately, the seasoning here fell flat, Instead of the rich, seasoned lobster taste I expected, it felt more like eating something bland with the texture of crab, not at all what a lobster roll should be. On the positive side, the panisse was excellent. Overall, though, I wasn’t satisfied with the flavor of the...

Most people probably think of aioli as a garlic mayonnaise. That's how I felt before I went to Marseille. But in Provence and also in Marseille, aioli is also a dish made with fish, potatoes, vegetables and, of course, garlic. The disadvantage of this dish? It is not very suitable for take-away. This is where Pain à l'ail comes in. The speciality of the house are sandwiches filled with exactly this Provençal aioli. This makes them very suitable for take-away. The sandwiches are not only good for take-away, they are also very tasty. A visit to Pain à l'ail is...

This is an extremely mixed review. The beef sandwich was great. The lobster roll was the worst I’ve ever had by a landslide. This sounds extreme to say but they covered the lobster with so much aioli sauce that I couldn’t taste the lobster at all. If I had been blindfolded I wouldn’t have known at all what I was eating. Really disappointing as the other lobster rolls posted here looked great, with big chunks of lobster, but the one I had was very mashed, with not a single chunk of lobster to be seen. Perhaps it was an off day- either way, what a shame

Very nice and friendly staff, food looked fresh and well-made. I'm sure it is good in general. But we came to try the Lobster Roll, and for the price of 20 Euros we expected some actual lobster. Problem: whatever was in this bread was crab salad at best. The fish was totally minced, so it was impossible to tell what kind of crustacea it came from. Then it was slashed in aioli sauce, which made it even harder to taste the 'lobster'. I bet my firstborn: there was not a single piece of lobster in it. 20€ out the window. 🫤
