Last time visited Montpellier saw the long queue in front of this restaurant, but rush to leave the city then decided have to try when come back here again. This weekend, I did it finally. Still long waiting line even it's closed to 2PM, lucky not too long wait and got seat. Lunch menu was simple and only one classic type of steak served, saved my without struggling. Go to the point, steak was cooked and soaked in a shellow butter, served parrially on the plate with string fries at side, fries was free flow and staff refilled once a while. Steak was medium and so tender and juicy, just hit my tone, the fries very thin and soft inner with extemely crispy shell, amazing part was it not oily at all. I would say this meal was my best experence for steak and fries ever. The restaurant was not that modern style but stunning, typical old school classical feeling, ladies in restaurant slillfully served the crowd and quite friendly even busy to fly. Finally the bill was pretry reasonable, a big set of tasty steak plus a small bottle wine just costed me 34 Euro, amazing. I will miss it and find another chance to be here again to tey a dinner. Highly recommend, you...
Read moreI've been to L'Entrecote at least 6 or 7 times over the years. It is always a good experience with a fixed menu - basically you get some salad with walnuts, and some steak and fries. This place can get pretty busy with a line forming outside, and because it is busy there is certainly some pressure to finish a meal quickly which I don't experience with other restaurants in France (where the dining experience is quite long by American standards and you actually have to request your bill). One thing has been consistent in my experience over the years... if you order Medium rare, you will get rare. If you order medium, you will get rare + perhaps a little bit of medium rare. This doesn't bother me too much because I have come to expect this in France with beef in general... anyway, my advice to people who may not enjoy the novelty of rare beef is that you should order a higher doneness than you normally do when visiting...
Read morePassez votre chemin! Not worth it!! We were a group of 12 French people with a few of us living in London that do appreciate good reasonably priced food when we go home. This place offers a unique EUR 19 menu that comes with a starter (lettuce, walnut and dressing) and main (unlimited fries and thinly sliced steak). To conclude: a EUR 19 steak frites... EXTORSION! Don’t get me wrong, service and food quality is there, but the rich buttery sauce is masking the actual taste of the meat itself (the tenderness was there indeed, but cannot tell about the actual taste) and the lettuce should come as a side and is definitely not a ´starter’. The ‘homemade’ claimed desserts were really average. Welcoming staff but a quite poor experience overall that made us wonder why so many stand out there queuing for up to one hour to...
