Takkito - GLUTEN FREE — Restaurant in Montpellier

The fact that this restaurant is located in Rue du bras de Fer which is by far one of the coolest, hip and instagrammable spots of Montpellier is not the most attractive point of this cosy little restaurant nestled in one of the crevices of this medieval street. It's the food they offer. Takkito is fun, unique, cosy and authentically innovative. The owner Max who by the way is very welcoming, has created dishes that pack a punch of enticing flavours which is quite frankly a rare find in France when it comes to non-French cuisine. We ordered a bowl of jerked chicken and wine to go with it and we were astonished by the jolt of the exquisite taste of the food. We ended our meal with the "mango chia" dessert that was just ultra delightful. Complements to the owner and the chef for such a unique offering to the locals and visitors of Montpellier. Not only this restaurant has grabbed the top spots on my list but also on my bucket list to try all the items on the menu. This restaurant has an amazing ambiance. A few tables are nestled into a tiny alley, so picturesque that we were the subject of many passer-by's photographs. The small number of tables ensures that each party has an incredible experience talking to both the chef and waiter who are bright and wonderful people. They had conversations with us, as if we were also eating with them. Both speak English. The food is incredible and vegan. The flavors are complex and balanced and we enjoyed everything we ordered. THANK YOU SO MUCH A L’ÉQUIPE DE TAKKITO!!! Yesterday we crushed in this wonderful place with 25 people. I was able to make a very spontaneous reservation for such a huge group. I would never have expected that’ll fit but the boss made it happen, he managed it and gave us the opportunity to have a wonderful dinner together. The food was amazing and so many gluten-free and vegan options - many people who normally have problems were very happy this evening. Also definitely try the Irish coffee with the fantastic vegan cream - it was sooooo good!! Thank you very much for hosting us yesterday! I definitely send a big recommendation - you guys rock!!
