Flo's restaurant — Restaurant in Nîmes

A hidden gem in the centre of Villeneuve-les-Avignon. We were greeted by smiles and welcomed by a young woman who kindly seated us even though the kitchen was still in the middle of opening up for dinner service. The service was excellent with great suggestions of cocktails and wine and nice small talk with the service staff, as we were sitting at a high-top by the service-bar. Food was thoughtfully and deliciously prepared with a menu that invites you to come back to try the dishes you didn’t choose, as everything sounded delightful. We exchanged with the staff in French, but I overheard them exchanging in English with other English speaking guests around us and they did with pleasure and at a very good level. Best meal we had in our week in France.

Nestled in a courtyard off a narrow medieval alley, Flo’s is definitely a date night spot or a place for catching up with old friends. (Leave the kids at home for this one.)

The ambience is “off the beaten path”. Rustic and cozy but contemporary with sleek finishing touches. No grandma’s doily’s here.

Wine list was appropriate with a nice selection of French wines from around the region. We had a delicious Northern Rhône AOP. Ask the waiter for a recommendation.

The real coup de gras was the menu. Though not extensive, the menu features modern French cuisine by a fabulous chef. The fish and veal were amazing. Rich and sumptuous. Each was accompanied by an accent flavor that made the dishes pop.

A wonderful overall experience from the atmosphere to the service to the food. After a long day of travelling we arrived and was warmly greeted even though we did not make a reservation. We sat at the terrace area which was a beautiful courtyard that surrounds you in nature. The menu was very well created with fresh and seasonal ingredients used and presented refined and elegantly. The service was welcoming, attentive but not intrusive and relaxed which a very enjoyable atmosphere to dine in.
