Le Coin — Restaurant in Nîmes

This place is such a cute find. I arrived in Nîmes late and was circling for a non-touristy place to eat/ wasn't swarming with people so I wouldn't be totally rejected as a single walk-in. I finally found this place.

The food is amazing and the service and people working there are sweet.

The waitress took the time to explain the menu to me even though she totally didn't have to. You can order a la carry or as a set menu. I grabbed the appetizer with what she recommended.

The first was a magnificent soft-boiled egg with fennel, mango, and a coconut black curry. So perfect and special.

The second was a pork sausage with these cute mashed potatoes which were slightly (and perfectly) firmer shapes as peeled potatoes. They were lightly crusted with pistachios served with an amazing, AMAZING (I can't emphasize this enough) FENNEL cream.

On top of this, the waitress and waiter (though I think they're the owners) were super nice and sweet to me. They were chatting it up causally with their patrons, sitting with them in between. They had nice smiles, which was greatly appreciated for this solo female traveler who had a long, and trying day.

Whilst searching for Nimes gastronomy, we stumbled across this restaurant. Just opened and they welcomed us as first patrons. Friendly staff that was accommodating our situation. Simple food menu as it was the taster menu (plenty of drinks to try if you want which the local French beer was rather nice - on a hot day). The three course was just sublime, we had beetroot entree, fish main and vegetable mains. They were both amazing, so close to a Michelin star restaurant k would say. And to top it off, the Panna Cotta was just fantastic. Different but very light and refreshing. All home made good which you must try. Ève, the chef and owner of this restaurant doesn’t miss a single detail! The engraved wine glasses, the decor, the food- even a hand-designed place card all contributed to a beautiful dining experience. I had the daily menu, paired with a beautiful local wine and have included photos below. Ève considers her work to be her passion and it shows! The dishes were beautifully presented and the flavours were fresh and original.
