Ambrosia is a delightful restaurant located along the water in Beaulieu-sur-Mer. We stopped over on our way from Nice to Monaco and were very glad we did. We would recommend sitting outside on the patio which is beautiful in the sunshine and affords a view of the harbour.
The restaurant starts you off with a crusty bread with a side of olive oil, salt and vinegar. The quality of the bread was wonderful. For meals, we ordered the vongole and the seafood spaghetti. The portions for both were massive! We could easily have split one pasta dish and gotten another main between two people. The seafood spaghetti had an ample portion of the assorted seafood and was full of flavour, as was the case with the vongole.
The service here was also excellent. The waiters were helpful and attentive, very easy to flag down. We had no issues at all while eating here. It was a beautiful stopover on our way along the coast and will definitely come back when...
Read moreThis is one of the worst experiences I have had in 15 years. We were greeted normally and sat. Waiters refused to change our table with broken glass all over it.
A glass fell, a waiter tried to clean up which is ok for us but we noticed the glass really dispersed - napkins, cutlery, plates, very unsafe. We asked for a table change and staff were willing to put the lives of my family at risk and refused to change the table saying it has been cleaned and us pointing to another piece of glass the two or so times they tried to brush off glass and assure us it was clean;
Absolute lack of service skills, instead they changed the waiter twice to convince us that we were not looking at broken glass. Being in hospitality all my life, I was mortified. We left with no attempts from the staff to right the situation. If they are this callous when things go wrong in the front of the house, I wonder what happens in the back of the house when...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for the very first time and, unfortunately, were terribly disappointed. I ordered the spaghetti aglio e olio with clams, and the dish was almost inedible — the clams were full of sand, the oil used in the pasta tasted awful, and the clams themselves were not fresh, giving off a bad smell.
My son had mussels, and they were just as unpleasant — lacking any flavor and clearly of poor quality. Service was also extremely slow, which only added to the frustration.
The only enjoyable part of our experience was the olive oil with puglia bread and focaccia, which was genuinely good. Sadly, even the cocktails were poorly made, with sugar just sitting at the bottom of the glass, completely unblended.
For a restaurant in France, where we expected quality and freshness, this was a huge...
