Bar du Coin — Restaurant in Nice

If you want a true local experience, this is it. As a local myself, a friend brought me here to finally see what this pizza was all about. We did change tables because a man was coughing and told his dining companion he was sick (what?!) but it was not a problem to move. Anyway, our questions were answered nicely while we ordered. I had the végé (others labeled their photos as vegan- it is not vegan but they will make it without cheese!) and a glass of peach kir. The pizza comes out in a generous size bit as you’re eating, you realize you truly get your money’s worth. It is delicious, fresh and a large portion for indulging or leftovers. I loved every bite and the spicy chili oil is always my favorite, which they had on this night. The server is great, she runs the entire dining room alone and she’s as fast as can be. You have to be patient when you dine at a popular restaurant with a line out the door. It’s amazing how people will see the long line and how busy it is, yet complain about speed. Plus, this is France. Outbidding experience is not meant to be rushed. But it was perfectly fine and the server is outstanding at juggling all of the people and orders. I live here in Nice all year round and I have been there 3 times, the first time we were around 10 people, one person in our group wanted to share a pizza, we were not allowed. Another time we got there at 13.10 and we were told they were closing at 13.30(showing me the time table on their door in a rude fashion ) yesterday we went past with my Grand daughter in the push chair wanting to seat and wait, it was 18.50 and they open at 19.00 - First the owner told us they were not ready and to come back later and the Lady (maybe the wife ?) arrived and gave us a tirade repeating this. So for 10 minutes they would not let us seat and wait !! Apart from those 2 failed attempt I have eaten there twice, The pizza is ok but the people are rude and unhelpful. Quite honestly we left and went to restaurant du Jesus and Pizza there is thin, crusty and a refreshingly nice and welcoming service. For me this is the last time that I try to go there and I will advise everyone I know or ask me for a pizza to not go there ! I know they don't need our customs as so many tourists go there but we have a choice and we don't have to put up with rude and...

We ordered 2 pizzas and drinks for my wife and I and we were told we must order at least a demi (1/2) pizza for my 5 year-old son. I told her that we won't eat that much but she insisted so I said ok.

It wasn't a factor of the place being too busy, we we're the ONLY table in the restaurant. It wasn't a "French/English" issue because I spoke to her in French.

She offered to cut my son's pizza and I asked her to cut my wife's pizza and she said (in French) "we don't cut pizza for for adults. Only for kids. but this time only." I asked her why.

when I got the bill she charged me about 70% of the regular pizza price for the half pizza and added a "supplement" charge of another 2 Euro making the price of the "half" pizza almost the same as a full pizza.

We ate all we could and sent about 1/2 a pizza back on our plates. What a waste of money and food.
