My recent visit to 'ILLIA PASTA' left much to be desired, primarily due to the abhorrent behavior of our waitress. Firstly, it's important to acknowledge the positive aspect of my visit—the sweet and friendly nature of the kitchen staff. Despite the good quality of the food, the overall experience was marred by the waitress Emilia's rudeness and her disruptive presence, which completely ruined the atmosphere of our meal.
When we politely requested water as our drink of choice, she laughed and reacted with surprising aggression, telling us we had to order 'actual' beverages while gesturing toward a small sign on the wall. While it may be understandable for the restaurant to have such a policy, her manner of addressing it was extremely off-putting. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, which significantly affected our overall enjoyment of the meal.
Moreover, the waitress's behavior was so disruptive that it completely ruined the moments we tried to share as a group. Her incessant barking and lack of respect for customer interactions stripped away any sense of relaxation or enjoyment we had anticipated. It's disheartening when a simple request or conversation is met with hostility and aggression.
Furthermore, when we asked if it would be possible for just two of us to share a dish, she asked if we were kidding and implied that this was a ridiculous request. Our mouths were agape in disbelief - we weren't that hungry and didn't want to waste any food, but were still pressured into ordering a superfluous amount of food. Ironically, however, the same waitress publicly ridiculed someone at the table next to us for not finishing their dish, interrogating them on their perceived food quality. When we asked to take our leftover food home, she responded with eye-rolling and dismissiveness, saying she did not have the time, conveying a lack of respect and consideration for customer requests. Later she curtly shoved a take-out box into one of our friends' hands, who was simply returning from the bathroom.
Considering the waitress's constant snappy disruptions, it is difficult to recommend ILLIA PASTA as a satisfying dining destination. While the cuisine may be good, the overall experience was tainted by the unprofessional behavior of the waitress. I sincerely hope that the management takes immediate action to address these issues, as they greatly diminish the restaurant's reputation and potential...
Read moreWe went to Ilia pasta hoping for good pasta and a good time. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience with the owner/waitress. We are three girls in our mid twenties who do not drink alcohol, each for our own personal reasons. This has not been an issue at any other restaurants in Nice (or anywhere else for that matter), but this was not okay for the waitress. When she came to take our order, she asked if we wanted anything to drink. We politely said no thank you, as we only wanted tap water. She gave us a death stare, making us very uncomfortable, and therefore one of us said “maybe later..” just because the silence was so loud.. I feel like it’s important to point out that we are not difficult costumers, and we are always very much keen on adjusting to another countries costumes/if any particular restaurant or cafe has certain rules. If she had just told us that at Ilia pasta the rule is that every person has to order a drink, we would have easily complied, and ordered sodas (hopefully that would have been okay..). But she just stared at us, and harshly said something like “who doesn’t order drinks with their food? You either drink now or not at all”. We were too stunned to speak. She just sneered, rolled her eyes, and walked away. If she had just said something like “we have a rule here that each person must order a drink” we would have easily bought sodas. But we were very confused by her attitude and horrible communication, and just didn’t understand her. I think she would have benefitted at lot from quickly explaining this rule to her guests, instead of acting like it’s some sort of universal rule, and that we were completely out of line for not ordering drinks… One of us even wanted a drink (a soy coffee which was on the menu) but she harshly said that the kitchen was too busy. Fair enough - but I think it’s very strange to get so mad at your costumers for not ordering the “right” drink. And fyi, there was no line when we got there or the entire time we were there, so it’s not like there was anyone else who would have taken our table and maybe ordered food and drinks, so it’s not like we robbed the place from income.. Very strange and uncomfortable place. The...
Read moreWe came here after reading the good reviews, and sadly were disappointed. We were sat outside and sadly it was very smelly, should have left then but decided to stay. We only had multiple choices to choose from, which shows that the pasta is not freshly made but rather pre cooked before opening. We were shocked by the weird policy about having to order a drink to come with your dish. When we wanted to order water for the table the waitress called us out and rudely said that we are in a restaurant, and that it’s unacceptable. Being a person that works in costumer service myself I found the attitude of the waitress disrespectful throughout the entire evening. The pasta itself came very quickly, but it was nothing special and the portions were small for the price. Definitely could’ve made a better choice when choosing a restaurant in Nice. After our experience we decided to read negative reviews, which corresponded with our feelings and the shocking thing were the responses from the restaurant. Completely untactful and should not take place in costumer service, ever! Too bad, that the only enjoyable thing for us was the...
