First, Mexican cuisine is one of my favorite cuisines. I’ve eaten at really good authentic Mexican restaurants. This restaurant unfortunately, was a bad experience. One of the restaurant staff was a little arrogant stating that we had our own special menu simply because I did not want guacamole or beans on my nachos and the person I was traveling with wanted shredded chicken as opposed to fajita chicken. I found his statement presumptuous and arrogant. The funny thing is, he made the margarita for me and I could barely drink it. It was the most disgusting margarita I have ever had. I tasted nothing but salt. How do you mess up a margarita? To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad margarita. This was definitely a first. Thankfully, the girls were nice enough to remake it for me without being charged and boy was it made right! Lastly, I ordered nachos. But there were no jalapeños even though the nachos come with them. They had forgot to put them on the nachos or maybe the arrogant person who took our order confused the cooks? And this next issue was the most disappointing besides the margarita. The nachos were cold. The cheese was not warm at all. It seemed like the nachos were sitting which is very disappointing. I truly felt like I wasted my money coming here and I won’t be back. The fact that the margarita tasted so badly and the food was underwhelming for the price that I paid is deterring me from ever returning. The restaurant has potential but the arrogance of the person who took our order and made my drink is not welcoming energy. Also the prices are ridiculous compared to the quality of the food. This was tex mex and mediocre at best. There is a lot of room for...

Read moreWe ended up at La Lupita because my son was craving Mexican food—a decision I quickly came to regret. Located in the French Riviera, this restaurant unfortunately feels more like a tourist trap than a celebration of authentic Mexican cuisine.
We ordered the large nachos, chicken fajitas, and a margarita. The nachos arrived with room-temperature, canned-tasting cheese and stale chips—more reminiscent of a gas station snack than a restaurant appetizer. The chicken fajitas were hot but oddly seasoned, with spices that leaned more toward Indian than Mexican, which threw off the entire dish.
The margarita was overpriced at 13€ and lacked the freshness and flavor you'd expect at that price point. Service was passable but uninspired—nothing particularly welcoming or attentive. The indoor ambience was average at best, but what really surprised me was someone at the next table smoking a cigarette inside. That alone would have made the experience unpleasant, food aside.
Given the quality of the food and drink, it felt far too expensive for what we received. In hindsight, I should’ve known better than to expect great Mexican food on the Riviera—but I gave it a shot for my son’s sake.
If you’re in the area and craving Mexican, you might want to keep looking—or wait until you're somewhere it's more likely to...
