The waiter gaslight me all the way until the end after he had ordered me the wrong dish. He tried to avoid me all along the meal, not coming to ask if all was ok either. Lied to my face about it being the correct dish against all evidence. Then tried to charge 20€ instead of the original 15-16€. The dish I got was extremely tasteless and I did not like it. I told him this and also said I would not like to pay the full price for the wrong dish that I didn’t even like. He finally agreed to bring me a bill with the correct price for the dish that I ordered, after I had had to refer back to the menu to show him how my dish was exactly as described in the menu, but he still charged me full price despite him having lied to my face several times during the meal and after I had expressed my disappointment in the dish and in the multiple gaslighting lies. It was utterly disgusting and contradictory to his “Welcome to Nice”, thinking we’d be tourists. We are not and surely will not return to La Storia in Nice. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Especially not to Tourists who don’t speak perfectly French. They are in danger of being belittled and ripped off, treated as if they were stupid. I would have been ok had he admitted his mistake and not made me pay full price for the wrong, and actually bad, dish or offered dessert, anything but the lies and gaslighting. I did not eat...
Read moreSuch a disappointing ending to our great vacation in Nice! I am usually cautious when it comes to picking restaurant, but today, I made a mistake of not checking out reviews before siting down for a dinner. Well, my bad.
The order went rather smooth, the meal was at our table in 10 minutes or so.
My gf ordered Risotto de fregola à la crème de courgette, stracciatella et saumon fumé for 22€. And while not straight up bad, it was bland overall - no taste, no flavour… she said it tasted like baby food…
I ordered Penne à la carbonara, guanciale. Well, where to start? Bland, overcooked pasta, very weird looking guanciale (more like a bacon or prosciutto) and sauce that tasted like it was store bought and not from fresh egg yolks. The waiter was arguing this is THE original recipe for carbonara… hmm… overall bizzare carbonara experience. At least when I returned my meal, I wasn’t charged for it.
Also the waiter was avoiding any contact what so ever, even when asked specificaly, and in French. (Big thank you to the american couple from the table next to us, who really tried their best to help us!!!)
I wouldn’t recommend sitting here for any meal and advice you to check the reviews beforehand! There are much better restaurants...
Read moreOnly good thing about this place was our lovely waitress. Wish I’d read the most recent review from an hour ago, how convenient. I ordered the lemon, tuna and caper pasta. Sounds delicious doesn’t it. I was so wrong. Absolutely vile, would’ve been better eating a bar of lemon soap. My partner had the muscles, which he enjoyed. I complained to the waitress who was very apologetic and offered another dish. I don’t like complaining myself, especially with working in a tourist destination in the same industry, nothing worse. She then came back to inform me that her boss said I can have another dish but I have to pay for them both?! So I refused and said no to the extra dish as not paying for a dish I haven’t eaten as well as. So I sat there not eating whilst my partner ate alone, how fun. Terrible attitude from the boss, robbing the tourists when you could actually make the experience better by being accommodating. Shame really as I’ve said, my partner enjoyed his dish and the waitress was lovely and clearly felt...
