We had just arrived in Menton, when we chose Le Lido for lunch. That was a clear mistake, as this place is the most obvious tourist trap in this town. We ordered "Risotto with Truffle Fragrance" and Spaghetti Frutti Del Mare" - both we severly undercooked but the Risotto took the price: Standard long-grain rice (not risotto aborro-rice!) were undercooked and tossed in standard tomato sauce from a tin. The truffle was nowhere to be seen or scented. My Pasta was undercooked with bagged pre-frozen "delicacie" from the freezer and a huge prawn on top - see our pic's for evidence. The total bill of EUR 67 is out of this world, so please STAY AWAY from this place, there are plenty of other choices in lovely Menton.

So,I have seen only bad reviews for that restaurant.I don’t know but experience of our family was amazing. We visited this restaurant twice:the first time in May and now in the end of August. The food is perfect and the service is amazing. We don’t have any complains.Furthermore, the were almost no free places to sit.The restaurant at some point was fully booked. So,I highly recommend that restaurant if you want to enjoy sea products and dishes. I’m grateful to the staff for a perfect service.

Food was awful (we tried gnocchi au pistou de basilic), would not recommend to anyone. They brought us some bread as appetizer which was rock hard. I had one piece on my plate but could not eat it. When the waiter collected our plates he simply put the bread piece I had touched back to the basket. Restaurant’s name seemed to be chanded as Brasserie Menton but the receipt said Lido. Felt like they tried to hide the real name since Lido has bad reviews. Also the bathroom was unclean.

R: come paga carta o contanti?

We went here for drinks and to watch the football game going on. We ordered in 4 mojitos (10,5€ each, the least expensive cocktail on the menu) after i tried ordering a margarita and the waiter just shook his head rudely. He shouted the order to the kitchen where the chef/bartender very dramatically rolled his eyes and looked extremely unhappy and irritated. We recieved our drinks and they were nothing but soda. Not the faintest trace of alcohol in any of our drinks. We tasted them and tasted them again and all agreed that there couldn't possibly be any gin in them, let alone 4 cl. We asked the waiter if there really was alcohol in the drinks and he just replied "yes, 4 cl gin" then turned his back to us and left. We could do nothing but drink up not wanting to cause a scene. The staff continuously stood in our line of sight for the TV where the football game was on when we had even told them we wanted to watch the game. Horrible experience all around and I would recommend everyone to stay away...

During the meal we noticed the Willem Dafoe-looking waiter miming shooting himself in the head. At another point he laughed at a pair of diners behind their back (one of the few people dining in this largely empty restaurant on a Saturday evening -admittedly we should've taken this as a sign as the surrounding restaurants were packed). Neither of us finished our meals and Willem took away our mostly full plates and didn't seem surprised in the slightest. Come to think of it he didn't actually ask us if we'd finished the meals, he just took them away. He didn't even ask us how the meal had been. He wouldn't have cared. He threw the receipts at us after we'd paid. Willem's dramatics were the best thing about this experience, and what we will remember. After reading other reviews it seems par for the course to get food poisoning from Le Lido, so we're hoping this isn't going to be the other thing that makes this a night...
