I was excited to have my last meal in Nice here, I found it just by walking by and the vibe looked right and view looked amazing. I got there at about 1:25pm and ordered a Ugo Spritz and burger which sounded amazing!
I had a 2:30pm cutoff time, but figured that as long as I got my food by 2:15pm, I should be okay. I never got any water either, but thankfully, I had brought my own. To my surprise, at least 3 parties that sat after me got their food and when I asked the waiter, rather than apologize, he told me that I should’ve let him know if I was in a rush since everyone came in at the same time. I said that wasn’t true because the other three parties all came in at least 10 minutes after me. I ended up canceling my meal since I couldn’t miss getting to my train to Paris to head back to the States. He comped my drink but reiterated that it was my fault that I didn’t say I was going somewhere.
The thing that makes me the saddest is I couldn’t help but to notice I was the only black person there and moments like this just make one feel (once again) like a second class citizen. Conversely, when I was in Marseille at Au Doyen and my food took forever, my waitress apologized profusely and the kitchen even gave me some panisses to apologize for the holdup. I now see why Marseille is one of the most diverse and inclusive cities in the EU.
I’m sure the food at Nice Sunset would’ve been delicious, but sadly, moments like this make me not want to return to the restaurant or city. It makes me sad that this was my last dining experience in Nice. I wish I would’ve just gone to a random location that popped...
Read moreOur final evening in Nice was made unforgettable thanks to our dinner at Les Sunset. Nestled along the picturesque coastline, this charming restaurant offers a fantastic view of the ocean and the vibrant promenade, perfect for people-watching.
We began with a delightful tapas plate for two, featuring a variety of delicious small bites that set the tone for the rest of our meal.
For the main course, we indulged in a perfectly seasoned steak, accompanied by crispy fries and a fresh, colorful salad. The tender, flavorful meat was complemented by a rich, creamy sauce that elevated the entire dish. We also tried the traditional steak tartare, topped with a fresh egg yolk. The tartare was expertly prepared, with just the right balance of spices and herbs, making it a standout dish.
The drinks were refreshing, particularly the vibrant red cocktail, which was the perfect antidote to the warm evening. Sipping this delightful beverage while taking in the sunset was an experience to cherish.
Service at Les Sunset was attentive and friendly. The staff ensured that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable, adding to the overall charm of the place.
In summary, Les Sunset is a phenomenal spot to dine, especially if you are looking to savor your last night in Nice. The combination of exquisite food, great service, and breathtaking views creates an unforgettable dining experience. Highly...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant in Nice on December 30, 2024, during a very busy time when it was full. At first, we were served by two very pleasant waiters, but later we were attended by a young waitress who, despite having a lot of work, had some issues with her approach. She really tried hard, she was doing her work. We came just for coffee and declined the offer to eat. She asked us several times if we were going to order food, she was asking us maybe 3 times, we told her we weren't planning to eat. She then assumed we didn't understand French, as we were communicating in English, and started saying something to the people sitting next to us, laughing. After we said no , we are not going to eat just coffee, she said okay?! And gave us dirty look 😀 we laughed . This unprofessional behavior left a negative impression, although the view and the quality of the drinks made up for it. We will definitely return, but the disappointment from her...
