We experienced a mix of commendable aspects and significant disappointments during our visit on 06/07.
Atmosphere: The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting and well-designed, providing a pleasant setting for dining. The decor is tastefully done, contributing to a warm and relaxed atmosphere that enhances the overall dining experience.
Food: The culinary offerings met our expectations. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and presented, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to detail. Love the fried seafood plate and pasta.
Service: Unfortunately, the service we received was the worst we have encountered in Nice, and arguably in all of France. The primary waiter, a robust gentleman, significantly detracted from our experience. From the outset, there was a stark contrast in the treatment we received compared to neighboring tables.
We were greeted with indifference, and there was no effort made to inquire about our needs or preferences. When we requested tap water, it was not provided, and when a mix-up occurred with our drinks, the waiter did not apologize; instead, he addressed us in a dismissive tone, suggesting we refrain from drinking. This interaction left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable.
It is troubling to consider whether this treatment was influenced by our Asian background, as the disparity in service was palpable and disheartening.
In conclusion, while La Favola offers a delightful atmosphere and satisfactory food, the service we experienced was unacceptable and overshadowed our visit. We hope that management addresses these concerns to ensure a more inclusive and respectful environment for...
Read moreIf I could give the service 0 stars I would. We walked up to the front and were looking around to see who to talk to about a table. I seen a girl holding menus and we made eye contact multiple times as I was looking around to see if someone could help us, so I asked her if she worked here, she then in a very annoyed voice said there a line. There in fact was only one lady standing by a sign by herself. No one would have looked at that and said yes that’s the line to get sat. Mind you there were also about 3-4 open tables. Anyway after waiting for a bit I got sat and then some guy drops off menus and walks away then comes back and I’m trying to ask him some questions, he seems like he’s in a rush and then leaves. He brings out food I didn’t order. I had just asked a question about it, when I tell him I didn’t order it he said the kitchen is closed and there’s nothing he could do. And kept insisting that I ordered it. Again seemed very annoyed when we only ordered two thing and they were pretty basic things. 10 minutes later, I see a pizza come out of the kitchen for a table in front of us: we had ordered a margarita pizza end a tomato pasta, he brought out a lasagna and a tomato pasta. Now the food itself is maybe a 2/10. If I’m being generous, lacking in favour and the pasta is very mushy (over cooked), I would highly suggest anywhere else. Don’t get pulled in by TikToks. As I’m writing this review we are waiting for someone to come check on us so we can get the bill. No one has...
Read moreIf you are visiting Nice, you HAVE to try this authentic Italian restaurant for an evening meal. Located in the centre of Nice Old Town, La Favola is the BEST Italian I have ever been to. Everything about this restaurant is outstanding - the quality of food, ambience, and customer service. On arrival, you are greeted with complementary fresh focaccia at the table. Offering both inside and outside seating, the restaurant serves delicious pasta and pizza - portions are generous and prices are fair.
I had the rigatoni, which is accompanied by brilliant theatrics, and is served fresh from the pan at your table. I would honestly recommend any of the pasta dishes, however, the dishes are SO big that I would suggest that you share between two.
I would like to thank the staff for a fantastic evening. I was particularly impressed with our server, Juliette, who was extremely attentive, enthusiastic, and friendly. She also took the time to provide fantastic recommendations - including the magnificent profiterole we had for dessert. Similarly to the pasta, the profiterole also comes with great theatrics, contributing towards an entertaining dining experience. It is brought to the table and doused in melted chocolate sauce. This dessert was an excellent example of traditional French cuisine.
Overall, not only did La Favola provide the best meal of my trip, but possibly the best meal I have ever had. It was so good that I wanted to return the next day. I would...
