I am sorry to have to contradict the positive reviews I see. But my experience was very negative. Perhaps the worst dinner of my life.
I wanted to stay light and ordered a sea bream with baked potatoes and Taggiasca olives, and a glass of white wine. Apart from the lukewarm dishes, as soon as I open the fish I see that the whole bottom half is inedible, raw. When I pointed out the problem, the waitress (long curly black hair, whom I thank, forgive me but I don't know your name) took the dish to the kitchen and after two minutes to my surprise it was brought back to me by another waitress, re-baked. What is that? Of the thousands possibilities, putting a half-opened and eaten dish back in the oven where other dishes are being baked is definitely the thing not to do, also out of respect for the other customers. Cook failed. Waiters who brought it back to my table also failed. I touched nothing more and asked for the bill. A third waiter as an apology offered me another glass of wine, which on an almost empty stomach would have only hurt me. To make a long story short, they charged me for everything: 30 euro for half a sea bream 'provenzal-sushi' (24 euro!) and a glass of white. Let's not even talk about the potatoes.
In the end, the Cook errors are not the real problem here, a bad night can happen to anyone. It is the handling of the situation that makes me put one star: unprofessional at all levels. I really have no words. Attitudes like this can ruin the experience for tourists and the image and memory of the place that hosted them.
I mean, OK I wanted to stay light tonight, but almost fasting was not exactly what I had in mind...
UPDATE I don't know how to respond to the team, so I will add here just a few lines to appreciate their attitudes to quite a critical, but honest, review. This is a good road to improve. In case I have the opportunity I will definitely give you another chance, sure won't be disappointed....

Visited with my girlfriend on 12th May and we chose this place as it was busy and the place had a vibe to it on passing.
Sat outside and the service was fairly quick, and extremely quick for France. The menu is available in both French and English which is nice but they were laminated and at that moment I know I should have listened to my gut instinct and left
We ordered a bottle of red wine which was €26.00, we find in most places the house wine is suitable for an untrained pallet. When it arrived it was ok, but very watery and had no substance to it. We then were asked for our mains, roughly around 21.15 and we were told the mussels were sold out. We went back to the laminated menus to decide what to have…. So beef stew and prawn linguine it was to be. 5 minutes later the food arrived, I’ve waited longer at McDonald’s. In true form the food was fairly tasteless but nevertheless we were in too deep by this point and we were just Hangry, we tried but the food was tasteless and it left more than a bitter taste in our mouths.
The prawn linguine:
3 x shelled prawns and linguine pasta. Prawns arrived with digestive tract intact which was full and when trying to remove it left the contents of it on the linguine. The tomato pasta was absolutely tasteless, the sauce was non existent. Not bad for €26.00….
The bill arrived; €72.00 euros for the best part of 35 minutes work, great work if you can get it.
Very disappointing and the waitress didn’t seem bothered that we’d left 75% of one meal and when we tried to give feedback the bill was just...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Oscar Restaurant in Nice, and it was a satisfactory experience overall. The restaurant's location on Rue Massena is convenient and easily accessible. The outside seating area provided a pleasant atmosphere, allowing me to enjoy the charming surroundings of Nice while having a meal.
The food at Oscar Restaurant was decent and met my expectations. While it didn't leave a lasting impression, it was still enjoyable. The dishes were prepared adequately, and the flavors were satisfactory. The menu offered a variety of options, catering to different tastes and preferences. However, I must note that it didn't stand out as exceptional or particularly memorable.
Regarding the service, it is worth mentioning that, like many restaurants in France, it fell below the usual standard. The staff seemed slightly indifferent and lacked the attentiveness that I would have hoped for. Nonetheless, despite the service, the overall experience was still pleasant due to the relaxed outdoor setting and the pleasant ambiance of Nice.
Considering the overall experience, the value for money at Oscar Restaurant is reasonable. The prices align with the quality of the food and the enjoyable atmosphere provided.
In conclusion, I would recommend Oscar Restaurant for its convenient location, pleasant outdoor seating area, and satisfactory food. However, it's important to be aware that the service may not meet your highest expectations. While not exceptional, the dining experience at Oscar Restaurant can still provide a decent meal in a charming...
