We had dinner at Salette Restaurant tonight—and what an experience it was. The space is intimate, and the menu is refreshingly concise: four entrées and four mains (chicken, veal, fish, and risotto). That’s all—but each dish is immaculately crafted, perfectly balanced, and made with respect for extraordinarily high-quality ingredients.
Leo, one of the owners, runs the front of the house solo. Despite being just one person, he never left us waiting for a single thing. His warmth and patience—especially with our poorly pronounced French—made us feel instantly at ease. As a courtesy, he also speaks English, so don’t let the mostly French crowd intimidate you.
In the kitchen, Chef Émilien (if I’ve got his name right) works absolute magic. The execution is clean and refined, yet deeply soulful.
We ended the meal with a mousse au chocolat that was simply superb—rich, velvety, and memorably chocolaty. The crowd was mostly French, which felt like a good sign: this is undoubtedly a local favorite.
Don’t expect a place full of flashy Instagram photos. Salette isn’t about spectacle—it’s about food. Foodies come here for the substance, not the feed, though the cozy, warmly lit environment invites lingering and good conversation.
Salette proves that you don’t need a long menu to deliver a truly memorable dining experience—just passion, precision, and genuine...
Read moreOne of the best discoveries we made in Nice was Salette, a new restaurant that opened end of March 2024. It is run by friends who are passionate about French cuisine and they know how to deliver a memorable dining experience. The ambiance is cozy and elegant, with a touch of rustic charm. The service is friendly and attentive, and the food is simply amazing. We started with chickpea sticks with parmesan and dips of tomato and basil and one with broth. They were crunchy and savory, and the dips complemented them perfectly. For the main course, we had one cod and one flank steak, both cooked to perfection and served with delicious sides. The cod was flaky and moist, served with champagne sauce and the steak was tender and flavorful. We couldn't resist trying their dessert menu, which had a variety of tempting options. We shared a cheese platter with three cheeses and a tiramisu, and they were both divine. The cheese platter had a nice balance of mild and strong flavors, and the tiramisu was creamy and light. We enjoyed every bite and finished our meal with a smile. We highly recommend Salette for anyone who loves authentic and refined French cuisine. It is a hidden gem in Nice that deserves more recognition and praise. We will definitely come back and try more of their dishes. Salette is a must-visit for...
Read moreA hidden gem in close proximity to Port Lympia this bistro is absolutely a delight to dine in. Booking in advance is a must as the restaurant is small and literally all the tables were reserved when we visited too.
The meal is first started with bread and these local anchovies and black olives spread, followed by the courgette fritters with tomato & basil sauce which was equally tasty. For mains we opted for the pork rib steak from Monts Lagast with creamy polenta with mascarpone and parmesan, pan-fried mushrooms, pork jus and slow-cooked duck breast, new potatoes, onion compote, sweet and sour duck jus. Both mains were absolutely delicious and the portions were good so i could easily finish the whole dish.
The meal was ended with this perfect dessert which was roasted apricots with rosemary, vanilla ice cream with roasted almonds - never expect the combination of the hot apricots would go so well with the cold vanilla ice cream! Overall this is definitely the best meal i have in Nice and the friendly service from the staff made it an even better...
