La Table des Troys — Restaurant in Nogent-sur-Marne

After we sit down they give out free glasses of Rose wine, and a small portion of limp chips, from a packet but not fresh. Our ordering waiter was impatient, doesn't wait to hear what wine I want, says the first one is very good, so his choice. He remembers our order instead of writing it down. Says they cannot do baked potato but suggests mashed, when I get it, it is a layers of potato and cheese. My wife gets her chicken with mashed potato. The salad is doused in dressing otherwise OK. We want to keep a third of the salad to eat with the main course. Three waiters come one after another, ask if we are finished. Each time we say No, we want to the rest with the main meal. This does not prompt delivery of the main meal, we wait and wait for half an hour. Finally I signal the manager. We have been waiting, where is the meal? After few minutes more it arrives. My wife had chicken I ordered 'bien cuite' Tournedos medallion of steak for 27euro. The steak is tough, you can chew and chew each portion but have to eject each inedible part. The walls are adorned with pictures of juicy steak and lists of Angus steak. Clearly not what I got. I chew through some of it then call our waiter. I say it is tough ('dur'). He repeats the word as if he can't believe it, AND THEN JUST WALKS AWAY. I flag the manager. He is Sorry and offers another steak. It comes, sliced thin and looks inviting. After a few bites I call the manager again. It is tougher than the first one, and THE MASHED POTATO IS MUCH TOO SALTY. He is sorry again and says I do not have to pay for my meal or the wine. OK but I would rather have had a good meal. I shall...

This restaurant is well situated. Only good point. Food is really expensive, and for this price you have not too bad nor too good food... Asked my meat medium rare... Came almost blue... Vegetables were totally cold, had only very little of it though, so i couldnt really taste it (5 very little potatoes...). meat was very good quality. Dessert was just good... When we had to pay the bill waiter asked me 10€ more because he said my friends didnt pay for their drinks... But they already did. So they had to give me back the money... We had to ask for water very often without getting it. Avoid this place unless you dont care...

I think we didn't order well but the food was okay. I would try it again based on other diners' plates that we saw. French onion soup was pretty good, a bit salty. We ordered fondue which comes w 300g of beef each that you cook in a broth and oil bath on a small fire at your table. Piping hot!! Not kid-safe but quite entertaining. This came w 5 sauce accompaniments and some fresh french fries. The raw beef should have been seasoned w salt and pepper. This made a huge difference once I did this. Some pickle, relish or suggested dish should have been offered...
