Never ever ever again for dinner. I had lunch here a few months ago and really enjoyed it so I thought I would come back for dinner tonight. Big mistake. The service has gone downhill.
I arrived early and waited in line. But somehow everything I tried to order they said they didn’t have any left. But this made no sense as I was the second person to enter the restaurant? and the people around me were being served the plates I was told we’re out of stock??
This whole time there’s a line of people waiting outside staring in the window at us like fish in a fishbowl. It was impossible to flag down someone who worked there to ask a question.
When I finally got someone to come over I asked about gluten free options and she walked away and never came back.
Another server came later and acted as if we had just arrived (???) This server suggested I order a dish but then five minutes came back later to say this wasn’t in stock either. Why not prepare a menu before the meal? This way clients and servers know what is going on. And especially can be clear about allergies.
I asked for recommendations and they did not even have rice or soup. Not really anything gluten free available. I rended up ordering an eggplant dish (the only option) which was really not good at all. So I got up paid and left. I left a whole dish sitting there with one bite taken. Nobody said anything at all. Really disappointed because I used to like this place. It’s gotten too hype and the service has...
Read moreAbri Soba is a must visit for soba lovers! I went there for lunch at 14 and it was still crowded. I needed to wait for a few minutes to be seated. There were plenty of choices with cold and hot noodles. There were also set menu with rice for lunch. I chose the simplest Zaru soba to test the restaurant. It was quite nice that I could add 6euro to change it to a menu with a salad, a bowl of rice or maki and a choice of fried chicken, vegetarian gyoza or japanese steam egg. I chose maki and fried chicken. The maki was nice but standard, but fried chicken was great, crust was crispy but not hard nor greasy, chicken was still juicy and tender. Very good work! The waitress was very considerate to ask if I had had Zaru soba before, if not she would teach you how to eat. The texture of soba was great and sauce was right mix. At the end, they will bring you a pot of hot soup to mix with soba sauce to drink to help digestion. It was sie but such an enjoyable meal and experience! Its really nice to have this open kitchen,so you can enjoy watching all the chefs work and how your food is prepared....
Read moreDid not know about the lines or that it was in the tire guide until arriving. We entered the street at 1159 to see a queue. Doors are at 1200. We got in on the condition that we would only stay if we got in on the first cycle, which we thankfully did.
Greatful that we did. The design and atmosphere of the space is quite good. Warm wood everywhere. Coziness and closeness without feeling too cramped. It did feel like they know what is the max amount of diners without spilling over.
We both had hot soba. Which we enjoyed in this cold time. Broth was full of warming flavors that cut through the chill. I had the thin slices of duck which were tender and meaty. My partner had the tempura - and it was the kind of tempura that maintained crunchy bites after being dunked in the broth.
A bit of rushing in the staff but understandable. Service was friendly and quick.
If you do go make sure to be ready to wait either early or late arrival . And if you are inside don't take too long - remember there are...
