This is a classic neighborhood brasserie with a nod to more recent gastronomic trends with the lunch menu including poke bowls (veg or not) and burgers. My kid what he deemed to be an excellent burger (he is very very picky about the meat) and really delicious fries -- deeply yellow and crisp with skin still attached. We added a little more salt but they were delicious fries.
I had the goat cheese salad which is a salade composee with a million things in it (the melted goat cheese with a touch of honey on toast, ham, boiled eggs, walnuts and hard boiled eggs). It was beautifully presented, super filling and generally tasty. I ended up not being able to finish it. We decided to take the formule and my kid had an ile flottante (a cloudy slice of meringue topped with a layer of caramel sauce) that came with the meal which he said was 'better than ice cream'. After having a few bites, I'm definitely in agreement.
Our waiter was gruffly charming and our service was overall really excellent. We had stepped in due to sudden rains and were very pleased with our meal. It was nice to go to a place without English translations and not full of tourists just steps away from the Marais....
Read moreI sat down for a coffee on my way to the train station on my last day in Paris. I ordered an espresso and asked to pay right away because I was short on time. When the waiter had already brought me the espresso, it was only then that I was informed that apparently they can't take card payments below an amount of 10 euro. When I tried to resolve the situation the waiter just left mid-sentence. He did not come back and I was forced to go inside and find him. He wouldn't budge and I was forced to buy a 9 euro glass of wine (which of course was suddenly fine to pay with their regular card reader). When I wanted to take the wine outside to my table since I was now very short on time he didn't let me and said he would bring it. I then waited another 5 mins for my wine to arrive. For all this he didn't even apologize and continued to be very rude and snarky. I barely made it on my train home. Do not recommend this...
Read moreWe had breakfast here. I can speak a bit of french, but the rest of the people I went there with didnt so they wanted to order in English. Which should be perfectly fine these days, not everyone knows french. But the waitress seemed to be very annoyed by any and all english quesions and just angrily kept explaining things in french whilst the rest was confused. She didnt make us feel welcome at all, when she tried to explain things she just seemed to be annoyed. She didnt even understand what the word plate meant. The croissants were gross, I've had better in my homecountry, which is a disgrace. And the fresh pressed orange juice costs a euro extra, but you still get only half a glass? I would assume you pay a euro extra to get a full glass like the unfresh one, but of better quality, but no. Confiture was tasty however, thats...
