We visited the Chat Mallows cafe on a Saturday afternoon after making a reservation online the previous evening. We waited a tiny bit outside while another group with a reservation at the same time was seated before us. It gave us just enough time to read the list of rules to respect while inside the cafe. Talking must be kept to a whisper, and cats may not be picked up or bothered in any way. It felt like the respect and well-being of the cats was paramount.
As for the food, there isn’t a huge amount of choice, but the drinks and food that we did choose were good. Everyone is given a free mug of tea with the price of admission, and you can choose to upgrade to other drinks and purchase a few snacks for additional cost. I enjoyed the free tea and my daughter got a hot cocoa, and we shared a big gooey donut with chocolate sauce and whipped cream and little crunchy sprinkles which was quite tasty! Our total bill was 30 euros, which included 1 hour of time inside with the cats. It felt reasonable for the food and the experience, which we really enjoyed!
The cats were calm and friendly, and they seemed healthy and well cared-for. They would sometimes even come leap on our table and try to sniff our food, and they wouldn’t shy away from our hands unless they were obviously already heading on their way to somewhere else. There were several cats snoozing on a platform by the door, and they welcomed caresses from my daughter for 10 minutes straight without protest, and kept right on snoozing. The cats who didn’t want to be petted had plenty of spaces and elevated perches where they could go to be left alone, but most of them actually were choosing to sleep in arm’s reach or actively engaging with the visitors.
Overall we had a great experience, and I highly recommend Chat Mallow Cafe for anyone who wants to enjoy some quality chill time with cute cats (including some rare breeds like Sphinx, Devon Rex and Maine Coon). We’ll definitely be back again! Thank you for your kind welcome, especially to Chaun,...
Read moreMy friend and I were really disappointed because the website is misrepresentative of the cats currently residing at the cafe. We arrived and at least 2/3rds of the cats were hairless...I am not writing this to appear discriminantory, but we expected to see the cats detailed on the site (especially with such strict policies to create a reservation beforehand). We were also shocked that the owners let a large dog into the cats space- but fortunately only some of the cats seemed to mind.
When we arrived, however, It seemed as though they were overbooked, with a line overflowing out the door! There were just too many people in such a small confined place at once- which is very off putting for me, not to mention these poor cats!
In addition, there is food being served and left on tables which the cats are allowed to graze on after a customer has left! Lastly, many of these cats are incredibly overweight and appear unhappy within their environment- probably due to a lack of supervision and monitoring by the staff, who are more concerned with receiving and preparing food orders. The least they could do is provide toys for the cats to play with- one of them was at the window trying to play with the scarf of a boy...
Read moreOur recent visit to Chat Mallows Café was so enchanting that we found ourselves returning the very next day. This charming cat café in Paris offers a unique experience that combines the love of felines with a cozy café atmosphere.
Right from the start, the staff made us feel welcome. Their friendliness and attentiveness added a personal touch to our visit. The complimentary tea, included in the entry fee, was a lovely gesture, enhancing the warm and inviting ambiance of the café.
But, of course, the real stars of Chat Mallows were the cats. Each one had its own personality, from purring contentedly in our laps to playfully engaging with the visitors. Their gentle nature made it easy for everyone to interact with them, creating a wonderfully serene environment.
The café itself was a delight. Well-maintained and designed with both human and feline comfort in mind, it was the perfect backdrop for this unique experience. The recognition and warm “welcome back” from the staff on our second visit made us feel like valued guests.
We’re already looking forward to our next visit to Chat...
