Amazing little place. My brother recommended I visit here and I was not disappointed like I was with Le Procope in the Latin District.
This is a small family run restaurant in the lovely district of La Marais. I believe it’s owned and run by a single family.
I arrived at 8pm sharp as a solo traveler and was welcomed in with open arms. I don’t speak French, the server speaks very good English and was happy to translate the menu for me. All of the other patrons in the restaurant were local.
The menu changes but I had an artichoke heart for my appetizer which was to die for. Very well made and presented. For my main I had veal in a sweet honey red wine sauce, also very nice. For dessert I had an apple tart with ice cream. This was good but wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I can’t complain though.
Overall I had a nice experience and would almost certainly frequent this restaurant if I lived in Paris.
Note that I didn’t leave until 9:30pm, even though I was the first in the restaurant and first to be waited on and served. The service is slow but competent, this is normal in France so if you’re American don’t expect the same type of service back home.
It’s also an ideal spot for a date night. Hope this...
Read moreWe were ignored for the first 20 minutes, then finally the waitress took our drink order, followed soon afterwards by our dinner order. The waitress was hurried and seemed to have little interest in communicating any details about our choices. Our entrees were good: a generous portion of foie gras and the salade aux queues de langoustine was excellent. The main courses were disappointing, however. The magret was cooked far too long, and the ris de veau which is normally the stuff dreams are made of was disappointingly lacking. To the restaurant's credit, when the head waiter learned of our disappointment he offered us a "digestif" on the house, which was a decent gesture, although...
Read moreHonest prices, tasty food and excellent service! We didn't know a lot of French, but the waitress was kind enough to explain us everything on the menu and give us her honest opinion! Also, the waitress asked if we were sharing our entree and dessert, so instead of bringing one big plate, the chef divided both in two (large potions, I may add), which might seem like a small thing, but was a nice and kind touch, in our opinion!
As for prices, we asked for two plates of the day (€15 and 18, respectively), an entrée (€7) and a dessert (€7) and it was more than enough for two people!
Ah, the toilets are in the 2nd floor and the stairs might be a difficulty for people with physical...
