I never thought I would rate a restaurant 1 star. I always prefer to ignore a place I disliked than to give a negative review. But here I'm left without an option. It's the second time I come to Chez Alain Miam Miam. That's because there's always a long queue in front and the sandwich is only OK. It's not really worth the wait.
This time the queue was small so I "only" waited 20 minutes to place my order. During this time, the queue increases behind me. When I get to pay, the owner, Alain, is talking to some lady, complaining about "how life is horrible". There's a long queue out and he is taking his time to process everybody's payments.
When I finally get to pay, I tap my phone on the machine when he realizes I'm paying with Swile, a special kind of payment here in France. That's when he has an outburst of anger. He starts screaming at me that they don't accept Swile, that I should have read the sign at the bottom (a small sign, mind you), that the Swile people are thieves and that he is tired of repeating this.
I tell him in a calm manner that he is being very violent towards me. He doesn't apologize. He continues to say in a strong voice that "of course he is" and proceeds to repeat the above. That's when I decide to leave without my order. Since he said he doesn't accept Swile, I thought I hadn't paid and it was not worth the confrontation.
Turns out I did pay. So, on top of everything else, he in fact does accept Swile, he just doesn't want to bother with taking this kind of payment, putting the stress of figuring this out on the customer. Now he is not processing my refund. This place made me wait in line for 20 minutes, then the owner screamed at me, and finally took my money without service. Isn't this...

This place has been on my list for quite some time. We finally got to try it today with my wife. The place changed locations from the emblematic Marché Des Enfants Rouges and moved to a little restaurant in the Marais.
The queue was about 10-15 mins, then we went in.
We ordered three sandwiches: Ham and Cheese (Comte, No veggies): Really amazing bread, a mix of Ciabatta and Baguette that was perfectly toasted with melting cheese and a generous portion of high quality white ham. Close to perfection, but was missing a noce kick from some kind of sauce that would be dijon mustard based. Spicy chicken (Avocado, Tomato, Lettuce, Comte): the sandwich had all the good things the ham and cheese sandwich had but the portion of chicken was way smaller and the lack of sauce hurt it even more. Pastrami (Cantal, Onions): I never thought I would say this, but it happened, I found what too much onions mean, I did not think it was possible to have too much onion in a dish. Again the issue here is that I like my Pastrami with sauerkraut, dill pickles and english mustard, and this sandwich had none of these ingredients apart from the pastrami.
All in all call good experience, but the lack of sauces prevents the place from reaching that extra gear that would make me want to come...

We loved their sandwiches that much, that on our way to the airport we had to grab two to go and save ourselves from the plane food! (If you do that let them know and they will toast the bread a little less and give you extra napkins)
Some reviewers are saying the amounts are too much, but I guarantee you, that you can ask for less from anything. This is definitely not a “soup nazi” kind of experience! (though I personally enjoyed every single bite of the sandwich, especially because of the abundance...
