About the invisible guest
we booked a table via google at 19.30. On arrival, we were kindly seated at the table. However, after 3 minutes waiter asked to move to another table. Of course i thought, an even better table is by the window. Waiter only warned me that this table was reserved from 21.00. I didn't see a problem. The waitress came over, my wife chose the seafood assortment, I chose the fish. My wife's portion was large and I told the waitress that if she couldn't manage, I would help her. However, waiter brought the utensils and a wet napkin alone (for wife). OK I thought, maybe later. We also ordered wine. When the dishes were brought, the waitress had not come to ask if we would like water (she didn't offer it). After I finished my dish, I helped my wife with the snails, shrimps... But I had to share the tongs and fork alone, even though the waitress could clearly see that we were sharing. We didn't get extra a wet napkin either, no big deal - we shared. I put the seafood waste on the same plate as the fish was (much smaller plate). After eating we waited for the waitress to come (20 minutes). She didn't. At 20.35, I asked her to come over and asked for the bill. Although planed to have had a coffee and dessert. But we had to vacate the table at 21.00. The waitress came at 20.50 and asked if we wanted coffee. Thank you no. After a while she brought the bill. The food was delicious. However, there is room for improvement with the service. My wife and I honestly...
Read moreAs an end of year treat a few of us visited Dessirier to try out their famous menu, but despite a last minute booking on a Saturday evening the place was pretty empty, which should have been a sign.
I went all out and ordered three mains for myself. The first dish featured lightly grilled scallops with vegetables. It tasted quite nice but the choice of vegetables, carrots I believe felt a little cheap for a dish around the 50 euro mark.
The second dish was a white fish and vegetable in sauce concoction and it was very bland.
The final dish was squid based and it was incredibly salty. So overpowering was the saltiness that I couldn't really taste any other flavour.
The common theme amongst all three dishes I ordered was that they were either lukewarm or cold. I'm not sure if this was deliberate, perhaps in an attempt to preserve the flavour or perhaps they were left sat on the counter for too long but I like my food warm or piping hot so I wasn't impressed by this.
The positives were that the service and presentation of the food was good but at a cost of almost 200 euros per person I was expecting a far more...
Read moreThe ambiance in the restaurant is nice but it is not enough in order to fully enjoy the evening and the dinner... The menu has a poor choice of dishes. My "pavé de bar" was served in a poor way. The "saint-pierre" of my husband was the same thing. No vegetables or something else to enrich the dishes. The bread was cold, cold, cold. Looks like they took it out from the fridge just half hour before. But the most sad thing is that the Staff is "grossier", rude! Especially the young blond lady, that she never said "thanks" to us, and never smile or asking if we enjoyed our meal. Typic french attitude, that, honestly, is unbearable. Then, last but not least: prices are very high. They do not match with the quality of the food, which is just normal, like the food that you can find in a...
