Hugo — Restaurant in Paris

After my friend and I RESERVED a table at the restaurant, the owner after hearing us talking in English pretend not to have a table for us. Although there were 4 empty tables, he sent us away. At first we thought that it was a mistake so we left and went to eat somewhere else. But when we passed in front of it an hour and half later the same 4 tables were still empty. We checked the email from tripadvisor again and it said that the reservation was confirmed. I never felt unwelcome anywhere before today. The owner is a French prick that acted in a racist way just because we didn't speak the language. My boyfriend and I went to Hugo's for holiday, and we were blown away. We arrived late, and they were able to fit us in without a reservation, and really accommodated us. My boyfriend fell in love with the beef, and my dish, the swordfish steak, was amazing as well. As the other reviewers state, Hugo's desserts are considered the eighth wonder of the world! The only negative we have, if it can be considered a negative, is that the waiter appeared to be a little harried, probably due to the amount of customers there at the time. The atmosphere is nice and intimate, and a good place for a romantic date. Can not recommend it...

Great food, but we had a really bad experience with the waitress. When we entered I asked if it was OK if we only had drinks and desserts. She said it was fine, but after that she was just rude throughtout our entire stay there. Especially the moment where I paid was just akward. She didn't say anything and just grabbed my card for a contactless payment without even showing me the amount on the device. So for me it's 5 stars for the dessert and drinks (fantastic crème brulée and rosé) and 1 star...
