We have been very pleased by how friendly everyone in Paris has been since visiting and having a language barrier. We stopped in to purchase a pizza to go and ice cream/dessert while we waited. Dessert first while on vacation! There was definitely a language barrier and host/waiter found some one to help translate but the host/waiter showed zero smile and almost seemed intimidating. The restaurant was empty at 1900 and they said the margarita pizza would take over 45 minutes. Lorsque la serveuse est revenue vers nous (sans que nous ne lâayons appelĂ©e), jâai simplement dit que jâhĂ©sitais et lui ai demandĂ© si elle pouvait me conseiller. Une question banale et tout Ă fait lĂ©gitime dans un restaurant. Sa rĂ©ponse, sĂšche et expĂ©ditive â âBah je ne sais pas madame, comme vous voulezâ â mâa immĂ©diatement mise mal Ă lâaise. Elle a insistĂ© avec le mĂȘme ton pressant, me donnant le sentiment de dĂ©ranger, voire dâĂȘtre tournĂ©e en dĂ©rision devant mon compagnon, qui a lui-mĂȘme perçu mon malaise.
Je travaille dans un glacier et jâai de lâexpĂ©rience en restauration. MĂȘme avec une offre rĂ©duite, jâestime quâil est normal dâaccompagner les clients, de rĂ©pondre Ă leurs questions, et de faire preuve dâun minimum dâĂ©coute. Dans nâimporte quel contexte professionnel, cette attitude aurait Ă©tĂ© pointĂ©e du doigt comme un manque Ă©vident de considĂ©ration.
Le reste de lâĂ©quipe mâa semblĂ© agrĂ©able, mais cette premiĂšre interaction a suffi Ă gĂącher lâensemble de mon expĂ©rience. Lâaccueil fait partie intĂ©grante du repas, et ici, il a cruellement manquĂ©.

Merci pour votre rĂ©ponse, mais je suis surprise de constater quâau lieu dâĂ©couter ce que jâexprime, vous tentez de me renvoyer la faute et de minimiser mon ressenti. Votre question rhĂ©torique â âĂȘtes-vous sĂ»re que le dĂ©dain venait de ma part ?â â en dit long : plutĂŽt que de prendre en compte mon malaise, vous le tournez en doute.
Je nâai pas Ă©tĂ© dĂ©sagrĂ©able, jâai simplement demandĂ© conseil, ce qui est parfaitement lĂ©gitime dans un restaurant. Vous mâavez rĂ©pondu plusieurs fois âcomme vous voulez madameâ, sans jamais proposer une seule option. Quand jâai dit âplutĂŽt des pĂątesâ, votre ton est restĂ© pressant, sans orientation. Ce nâest pas du service, câest de lâesquive.
Quant au fait que vous mâappeliez âmademoiselleâ ici alors que câĂ©tait âmadameâ sur place, et que vous parliez de âmon amiâ au lieu de âmon compagnonâ, ce sont peut-ĂȘtre de petits dĂ©tails, mais mis bout Ă bout, ils renforcent lâimpression dâun ton moqueur et dâun certain mĂ©pris. Et pourtant, je connais bien le contexte du rush : je travaille en restauration moi aussi.
