She said yes - best dinner ever
After some over-descent research on tripAdviserr I found L’Acolyte de l’Insolite means The acolyte of the unusual and it’s name is a perfect fit for what they offer. I have never had a meal this good and the ambiance was just perfect. Very personal and polite service but not all over you. I’m sure if that’s what you prefer they have it as well, but I planned this dinner to be very romantic and leading to a marriage proposal.
A couple of months before the dinner I got in touch with the manager of L’acolyte de l’Insolite with a lot of request which all have been followed perfectly. I asked at first if I could have a song played at the right moment (after dinner), a picture from the moment when I went on one knee and a bottle of champagne if it was clear I’d had a positive response. It all went well easily. The manager was very modest. The place is small and she wondered if it was romantic enough for a proposal and sent a video of the restaurant so I could pick a table which I thought would be best. She arranged with the chef that there was some of my girlfriends favorite foods available in the menu.
When we came over and I named our reservation she brought us to the right table and nothing was revealed of the plan we set up. I can’t precisely remember what we ate, I was too tensed all the way, but I had fish with the greatest flavors ever and my lady went for Melon with koppa which was very good as well. As main dish we had a beef tartare with fried potatoes which was delicious! The meat was so soft and smooth with just the right combination of herbs. We got a good complementary wine served with the servings and then I came to the proposal part, probably not the most important to the reader, but it was to me. My girlfriend went to the toilet so the manager just did a quick check at what precise moment she would put up ‘our song’ and so she did. My girlfriend said yes to the proposal and right after that a bottle of champagne came up to our table. It was really beautiful. When we came back to the ground a little we ordered a chocolate mousse which melted in our mouth, delicious! After the dinner I got a video and a couple of pictures of our moment supreme sent by Facebook messenger via which the manager and I had our contact before.
We had an awesome time, paid a fair (very good quality/price rate) price and will definitely come back here again later. If you’ve read this, you better go to have a dinner here! You would really miss something amazing if you wouldn’t go! If I could rate higher, I would! The food was definitely a michelin star worthy. Thank you L’acolyte...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this little gem quite by accident. We had originally planned on dining at Ober Momma that evening, but when we were told at 8:00 p.m. that there was a two hour wait, we decided to look for another place in the surrounding area. This place was just two blocks away. We ate in excellent restaurants every day we were in Paris for a week, and this was in my top three. Small and intimate with simple yet creative French dishes and an excellent wine list. We were the only Americans in the place, and with our broken French and our very polite and patient server's broken English, we were able to order and enjoy a delicious meal. I highly recommend...
Read moreLunch on a cold, rainy day. Service was friendly and prompt. You could tell it is popular with locals as it had a relaxed, neighborly vibe. The lunch set menu is a fantastic bargain. We had the mushroom soup starter, the pan fried salmon main and cheese to finish. Although the set menu was not extensive, it seemed very well considered - for example a fish, a meat or a veg option for the main. The food was prepared really well - perfectly cooked and seasoned. The ingredients were high quality. The wine list was very interesting. I had the Loire Pinot noir by the glass, and although the cheapest option was enjoyable. I would make this a regular...
