Maythai — Restaurant in Paris

I honestly don't understand how this place has such good ratings. Maybe for the French palate it's acceptable - it certainly was busy, but it's simply not Thai food in any way.

White rice instead of jasmine. No spice. The vegetables are soft instead of crunchy, clearly cooked on medium heat. None of the flavor, ingredients, or techniques are authentic.

The ambiance looks like someone made a restaurant out of a teenager's Thai-themed Pinterest board.

Culinarily, it's essentially a mediocre French restaurant with a vaguely Thai theme. Perhaps for the most timid of French palates, this place would be okay, but if you've ever had reasonably authentic Thai food in your life, I'd suggest you give this...

The day we went, the floor was sticky like it needs a deep cleaning. The menu was a tad confusing to us - they offer a brunch menu, a menu la carte, a package menu, and maybe another - and there was no explanation on which menus were available or unavailable when we arrived.

Service was fast. Food was ok. Two in our party ordered Pad thai chicken. It was heaped up with a tofu-looking fake chicken hiding beneath. We've eaten pad thai in Thailand and homemade by a friend. Both were much better than this. The mango sticky rice had a nice presentation and was a nice treat, although the mango was bland. Ok to experience once, but...

Came in here with high hopes but was faced with poor service and worse food. I ordered the tom yum soup and the shrimp pad thai. The shrimp in both dishes were unfresh and fishy. When i told the waiter she told me what i wanted to do in a rude tone and proceeded to tell me that the shrimp was frozen and proceeded to leave before i was able to reply. I found this very rude as i was not trying to get a refund or anything i just wanted to inform them that the shrimp was no longer edible. Would never come back find another option. For this price point id atleast expect that the food...
