Our first meal in Paris...
We came here because it was across the street from our hotel and was fairly well rated. The decor was classic brassiere with a bit of modernity. The manager greeted us at the door and and sat us at a nice corner table by the window (we both love people watching, especially in a new country).
I ordered the Onion Soup and Entrecote (300g Ribeye steak and fries with a small salad). The soup was tasty, smothered in a massive pile of cheese and croutons. The steak seemed to be decent quality, but was cut oddly so it was Medium Rare (as I had ordered it) in some spots and Well Done in others. The fries weren't as crispy as I would have liked, but it wasn't bad.
My girlfriend ordered the Cheeseburger Medium Well. It came out and looked decent enough, but when she cut into it it was VERY rare. She politely asked to send it back and have it cooked more (she even said "no pink" thinking maybe it was a language issue, and the waiter nodded). The waiter brought it back out less than 2 minutes later (I could already tell this wasn't going to be right). She took one small bite of the burger and put the rest back. They had simply put the cut side of the burger on the grill for 30 seconds to make the outside look cooked. We called the waiter and manager back over and showed them and my gf said she couldn't eat it. They gave a very simple apology and offered dessert. We declined as we had to get going and they brought the check and a glass of champagne on the house (the only reason they don't have 1 star), but left the burger on the check even though it was completely their fault and she ate barely any of it. I was going to complain further, but she told me to leave it and just go.
The airline had lost her suitcase and we had to buy her a bunch of replacement clothing and toiletries and this experience had only added...
Read moreThe worst service I have ever experienced, the food is good, compliments to the chef and only to the chef. If you want to have a good, relaxing and worry free evening, do NOT go this restaurant. It takes about an hour to order anything (if they actually have it and if they don't forget it) and the waiters seemed to be in an incredible rush to take up your order. Be ready to tell the entire order of the table within 5 seconds or else they run away to (try to) pick up the order of another table. We were not the only ones that got annoyed by the service, all tables around us were complaining and waiting. And to top it all of, there is an employee (a "big guy", smelling of alcohol and extremely rude) who will show you the door if you have any criticism about the restaurant. I hope the manager reads this, please talk to your staff and please hire more waiters for a busy evening, it is a shame compared to the good food in...
Read moreThis place was across from our hotel in Paris. I went for a few glasses of wine one evening and had an awkward start with the barman who struggled at first to understand my French. After a few verres my tongue loosened up and i apparently made an impression on the staff as a tipsy American with clumbsy but passable French. I took my girl the next day and after another clunky start(we got a price fixe menu but it wasnt avalable) Our waiter was sincerely apologetic(especially when he had to tell my girl they were sold out of escargots) The food was good, my roast beef dish with pesto and parmesian was one of the top things of the trip. We also had entertainment as there was a car accident and an abandonned car causing hours of silliness as people honked at a driverless car. I will say that you should be able to speak some French as most of rhe staff did not...
