La REcyclerie — Restaurant in Paris

My experience was very similar to that of other reviewers, so I concur with a lot of the previous comments. La Recyclerie is in a converted train station a couple of blocks from the big flea market. The space has a great atmosphere, airy, open, and loft-like with wall planters, climbing vines, and salvaged wood furniture. I loved the zero waste concept, and the vibe reminds me a lot of similar places we have in San Francisco. There are two levels in the main dining room and a nice garden out back. First the good: Self-serve unlimited coffee and tea, large portions, homemade, vegetarian/vegan options, and pleasant staff. The price is reasonable for Paris, 20 euro including the aforementioned bottomless coffee/tea and generous portions. The whole operation seems very efficient and organized (its all self-service). On the downside, the food was very disappointing, basic and bland. I went for Sunday brunch and had the vegetarian option, which consisted of white beans in a sort of tomato base, veggie couscous, egg salad, and some arugula. Again, it's homemade and I am sure the ingredients are good quality, they just need better recipes. Given the great atmosphere and values, I'd highly recommend this place for a drink with friends, especially when the weather is nice, but not for a meal. One note: I saw a couple of other reviewers mentioned the Sunday brunch was not as good as the weekday fare, so maybe just avoid weekends. Seems a lot of people are saying similar things about the food, so I hope the management will listen - all this place needs is a few tweaks to put them...

Imaginez qu’une femme se fait tabasser sous votre restaurant et elle est en train d’agoniser , que faites vous ? Comment agissez vous ? Allez vous l’ignorer car c’est pas dans votre restaurant ?

Alors vous avez le culot de dire que c’est à l’extérieur de votre restaurant mais on a appris que vous êtes refuges #lpo! Ça vous parle de la responsabilité d’être un refuge de la faune aviaire ?? Que pensez vous des oiseaux qui agonisent sous votre restaurant ? Donc parceque c’est pas dans votre restaurant donc vous méprisez la mort d’animaux ? Qu’attendez vous pour agir et faire retirer le filet métallique sous votre restaurant ??? Aimez vous entendre les oiseaux agoniser sous votre restaurant qui tuent des animaux ! Vous allez faire la fête de la musique, allez vous respecter les décibels pour ne pas faire peur à la faune aviaire en pleine période de reproduction ? Allez vous utiliser les sons amplifiés sur la petite ceinture sachant qu’actuellement vous avez des animaux sauvages qui déambulent sur la petite ceinture dont des hérissons ? Tenez vous compte de votre impact sur l’environnement, la faune et la flore ???

Vous vous dites écolo! Pourquoi vous intervenez pas pour faire éteindre la lumière sous votre restaurant??? Pour quelle raison vous ne faites rien pour faire retirer le filet métallique alors que vous êtes refuge LPO France LPO Île-de-France d’ailleurs je comprends pas la LPo qui vous donne le statut de refuge à des gens qui coupent des arbres en bonne santé ??? Vous avez coupé des arbres en bonne santé ! Vous avez laissé des oiseaux agoniser sous votre restaurant et vous laisser la lumière 24/24h sous votre resto et on appel ça comment ??? Que faites vous pour que la deve espaces verts de paris éteignent l électricité sous...

This is a really cool spot, it's so much more than a restaurant, it's more of a community resource for sustainability. The one downside is that the initial entry is a little chaotic, as you have to order right as you come in. We had brunch and it was slightly overwhelming to quickly decide on your order while trying to get a look at the menu board. You have to choose between three mains (one is veg/vegan), pain au chocolat or plain croissant, desserts (dessert after brunch - I love France so much!), then you're given a beeper to let you know when your order is ready. The rest is unlimited self-serve: brewed coffee (you can also get espresso and other drinks from the bar, but it's not included), tea, chocolat chaud, bread, butter, jam, and juice. There are lots of seating choices, indoor and outdoor, and it's a very cool space. After you finish your food be sure to explore: there are chickens outside, gardens, smaller rooms upstairs for work/meetings, a play area for children, and an area to bring small household appliances to be repaired instead of...
