Best croissant I've ever had, however it isn't leaps and bounds better than any other in Paris. The baguette exquise was great as well, the best partially whole-wheat flour baguette I've had, however that is a relatively rare baguette in Paris, but this one was great if not beautiful. Subtly sweet, perfect interior texture, great balanced flavor. I prefer slightly more crunch in the croûte, however that may not be their fault as it was humid and raining a bit, and also it's an easily fixed issue with a toaster oven! Very kind service, cute decor, quiet nice location. Overall wonderful experience.
They claim on their store window and their pâtisserie bags that they won premier prix for croissant aux beurre in Île-de-France, but no specific year is listed... Not saying they didn't win, just saying it's kinda dishonest to have it in their window if they won in 1999... Upon further research, i couldn't find any more info on their prix, but I did discover that Laurent Duchêne has a lovely and beautiful website that even offers free shipping within France if your order is over €80. Not sure I'll ever be using that, but it is surprisingly modern for a Parisian pâtisserie.
I'll certainly be back again to try more!
Edit - I've been back, and tried more! They renovated the storefront throughout August and it's beautiful, same clean open mirrored space but more modern and open now. Pâtisserie are just as good as before, maybe even better.
Tradition, croissant, and a pain au chocolat. Each were as good as I've ever had. The croissant is almost too perfect compared to the more messy and organic folds of the pain au chocolat. The tradition had a nice rustic approaching burnt crust, which gave it a nice strong but thin crunch to every bite. The flavor of each...
Read moreI wanted to taste the best croissant of Paris and this place wasn’t disappointed me. Indeed I was so attracted to all the cakes and sweets there that I bought not only croissants but also maccaron and flan vanilla. The pastry is so light yet moist and the outer part of the croissant is crunchy but still intake when you bite, not crumbly and flaky at all. And the maccaron is to die for!!! I regret I didn’t buy the whole box. And the flan vanilla, I bought thinking to give my nephew and niece as a gift but while waiting at the airport I was hungry and took a bite and OMG it was yummm. I’m so happy I made it all the way from Australia to this little boulangerie patisserie in Paris. Also I speak very little French and the owner was very polite and helpful when speak back in English with...
Read moreWhile staying in Paris you can find many boulangeries sporting their awards for their pastries. However this particular Boulangerie boasts “Best Croissant” and it actually lives up for the title. I’ve NEVER had any pastries tastier than the ones I bought here. I bought several pastries around every one of Paris’ Arrondissements and to me this place has the best ones. There is always a line of people outside waiting to come in.
My favourite are: Chocolate au pain Chocolate roulette (number 1, and I only found the chocolate on in this bakery, other bakeries have only the...
