On the corner of Rue Malar and Rue Saint-Dominique is this small but wonderful local eatery we dined at twice during our 5 night stay in the neighborhood. Burger and fries, Vespa salad, smoked salmon with bagel, 1864 beer all delicious. This is not fast food so expect you'll sit about 60-90 minutes. Relax and enjoy yourselves. Service is typical French so be patient. You’re not rushed out by your server after eating. If you’re satisfied leave a few extra Euros for your server. He will remember you if you return later during your visit. Seriously, disregard a couple negative reviews. Those folks are typical, ugly tourists whom are professional American fast food diners expecting a complete meal around USD10. You know: order, eat and out in 15 minutes.

We stumbled upon Malabar Food & Drink by chance — and we’re so glad we did! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to celebrate a family occasion. Our waiter, Ari, was absolutely fantastic — it was a real pleasure to talk with him. His efficiency, friendliness, and attention to detail were truly impressive. The wine selection was excellent, and Ari’s recommendations were spot-on. A wonderful experience overall — we’ll definitely be coming back! 🍷✨ Ps: you would just need some cash for tips.

Really loved this little bar so much we came back 3 times. The service is the same as any other place in Paris honestly, you seat yourself and if no one comes up to you simply go to the bar. The drinks were great! Highly recommend the mango jack and the Malabar shake. One of the nights we tried some mint vodka shots someone else was having and really loved them. Met some interesting characters here and had a blast every time.

Main meal was edible but not particularly special (19€ for a burger!) Service ok but not attentive at all. My friend and I ordered a tiramisu to share and discovered the mascarpone had gone sour - it was completely inedible, so we sent it back. At the end we noticed we’d still been charged for it and when we queried it (on the basis that it was a) Uneaten and b) clearly gone bad, the guy behind the bar (Manager/Owner) yelled across the restaurant : “You ordered it, so you have to pay for it!”. Really disgusting service - he obviously thought we were tourists (not that it would have been ok no matter who we were). As it happens we both travel to Paris weekly for work. We will not return to this tourist trap rip-off joint and do NOT...

“Ouí” to this place. The salmon (saumon) bagel and pastrami bagel sandwiches were just the right things for a mid day snack. The place is tucked away somewhere there are no crowds of people trying to sell you things or insta-tourists taking photos for the followers. As a couple of no-french-knowin’-English-speaking tourists, this fine establishment was our “just pop-in and check it out” kind of place. We weren’t starving. The portions are perfect for those in-between moments if you could use a light meal before continuing your adventure through Paris - also, very relaxing and inviting. Staff are friendly (they speak English). Enjoy the cozy feeling and the spread of taxidermy’d aviary throughout the room. Malbar and...
