Literally the worst bar service experience I have ever had in my life (and I’ve been to countless major bars in NYC and Paris) ! So bad that I’m writing a Google review for the first time! First time I had to give up trying to get the bartender’s attention - and there weren’t even that many people at the bar. Stood for 20 minutes trying to make eye contact and politely raise my hand or call out to the bartenders (2 were working and 2 were cleaning/ taking cigarette breaks) - meanwhile they continued to serve people who obviously arrived after me. One had the gall to tell me after I told him I had been waiting 20 minutes that I had to call them louder, and then didn’t even try to grab one of them for me (he was the one cleaning). Totally understand you have to be a bit assertive at the bar but a good bartender knows how to generally keep track of who came first!!!

Read moreWe unfortunately ate here our last night in Paris, so sad because I would have liked to have gone again! In a busy part of the Marais, but on a quiet street. The staff are fully bilingual, they were patient with my limited French but could easily explain the menu in English. Every bit of the meal was outstanding, we had an appetizer of asparagus salad in a Parmesan basket, I had the Chateaubriand and my wife had scallops. An outstanding bottle of wine for 35 Euros as well. Lovely environment, the decor is classy and old school. We felt welcomed and comfortable. The tables are tight, as they often are in Paris, but not outrageously so. I really cannot say enough good things about this place! It's small, we came right at 7pm on a Friday when they opened and there were tables, but it filled quickly, probably a reservation would be a good idea...
Read moreProbably the best rooftop in Paris at the moment, Le Perchoir was an absolute-must this summer. Located in a quiet street in the 11th arrondissement, the bar is located on the top floor of what looks like a residential building. Upon entrance, you are led into a courtyard and to a lift that will take you to the top. Nothing impressive yet until the lift doors open and you are faced with a stunning 360 view of Paris. The cozy tables and couches are inviting and the drinks menu isn't as pricey as what you would expect from such a unique place. Best to not arrive after 6/7pm depending on the day of the week as there is a queue on busy days. The sunset view from there is beautiful and the staff distributes white fleece blankets after dark. Definitely one of the best place to go to on a long lazy summer afternoon in the sun...
