Les Tanneurs de la Butte — Restaurant in Paris

Absolute nightmare service. If you want to have your evening ruined by rude Parisian owner that only care about making profits, this is the place to be.

We were 3 friends taking a drink on the terrasse on a sunny evening minding our own business for already 40min when the waiter came to tell us to move to another table inside because it was a table for 4. He wanted to make more profits with 4 potential people on the table instead of 3.

Needless to say that when we refused, we received plenty of insults and were treated as disrespectful customers to not allow the owner to make more profits. We then had to leave.

Never I had experienced this before.

There are many other bars and better options in the streets that have friendly waiters and 100x better service, especially the bar (Taverne de la Butte) just accross the street which is one of the best in la Butte au cailles. The contrast in service is striking.

You can see the response of the owner below which is really full of himself and proud to treat poorly its customer, that says it much about this bar to avoid.

My friends said thanks because we are polite, but we'll never come back and make sure to tell our other friends too.

Very cozy place for late breakfest. But you have to have plenty of time, because the “one man show service” takes forever. It took about 20 minutes just until somebody was able to say hi and take my order. The place was half full I would say. First 10 minutes I was thinking just to leave, because nobody even came and say good morning, we will be back to you soon. But than I understood that this is probably just part of french mentality to completely ignore each customer until you finish taking care and serve the other guests who came earlier. I cannot say anything about the food because I didn’t try it, bc just arrived there for a beer, the street is known for it’s festive atmosphere and good prices, usually a pint in happy hour costs like 3.50€ (we was since 17:00 to 19:30h, so was happy hour time) and our bill was 32€ for 4 pints, in my opinion a super exaggerated price when you know even a pint next to the Eiffel Tower can be 7€... when we asked to the bartender for excessive prices, he said that’s because they offer a terrace, mmhhh, almost all the bars there have outdoor tables and even offer better beers, we have had Stella and Leffe, nothing from other world.
